Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo 3DS Rumor Launch Dates-UK

I guess the 8th generation will start earlier than I thought. I predicted that the UK would receive the 3DS in the Summer of 2011.

Might be good for everyone for a non-Japan launch-date (as its needed in Japan far far more than its needed elsewhere)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm just having a hard time thinking that Nintendo is going to miss the holiday season for this outside of maybe Japan.  I could see an early fall release date for it there, but in Europe and America I would really only expect one month for it to release... November.

What I'm actually thinking will happen is that Nintendo will opt for only releasing it in Japan for this fiscal year and then not till late Q2/early Q3 of FY 2012 for Europe and America.  Personally, I think 3DS might be farther along than Nintendo is leading us to believe, which would explain the large developer support already.  It might be possible we have a worldwide release this holiday season.

Nintendo's missed the holiday season on Lite, i, and iXL, though i'll grant they're all different from a completely new platform with new games. The 3rd parties that are (for once) pouring all this effort into that lineup might apply pressure to see a holiday release, if only to give their games a better fighting chance (though who knows which of that is launch material and what isnt?)

Yes,I agree with you.I'm thinking we should see a launch in mid-November,But also seeing price cuts on the Nintendo DS line,Oh if you remember that quote back in 08 something we couldn't do on are own well I was watching a vid on the Nintendo Channel and that was for Kid Icarus,so developers new about it in 08.

DS price cuts this holiday certainly make sense.  The one problem I see with them launching 3DS this year in Europe and America is that they may not want to cannibalize the current DS's sales, instead giving it one last holiday to sell millions.  After all, 3DS won't need the holiday season to sell ridiculously well.  March seems a bit more plausible to me for these regions, but the fact that it's a completely new system may sway a holiday launch after all if the games are indeed far along.

Japan: December 2010

North America: November 2010

PAL: December 2010

The Nintendo DS will still sell a ton even with the Nintendo 3DS,at lower prices for the Nintendo DS people will get it

I personally think its a stupid decision if THEY DON'T cut the motion control competition off at the knees this year.

Releasing the 3DS will almost certainly destroy any media buzz around old technology like motion controls.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
