Hmm ok so a console that has graphics on par with first generation xbox and that might be considered good for the years 2001-2002 is going to be "industry standard" for years to come? well god save us all is all I can say. Ever heard of HDMI, blue ray, HD-DVD? Forgive me for not being a Wii-fanboy, I really like playing that console with friends but there is nothing industry standard setting without the motion sensing technology it uses and the fact that it is attracting the casual crowd. But of course if the emphasis is to be only on party games and standing up swinging our arms then it sure is the most innovative product of all time. |
Shams, you threatened the wrong guy.
Well, we pretty much know what HDMI, BD, HD-DVD are. But we also know what gaming is. And it has nothing to do with HDMI, BD and HD-DVD. How long have you been gaming? 2-5 years?
Apparently you don't "get it". Anyway, it's far from wawing your hands etc. I suggest you do yourself a favor, buy Wii, and grab SMG and MP3 along. It really teaches you something about the Wii.
Wii definately attracts casual gamers, but the people who are interested in it the most, are the "hardcore" gamers and lapsed gamers.
@Griffin: Nintendo definately is doing everything they can to raise production, after all, the current production rate is more than 350% the original. Their last ramp up was delayed by 2 months because some supplier couldn't supply enough components. It looks like, they can ramp production by 500k every six months.
And about the topic, the question itself is good, but the title was bad. I don't think Nintendo will get hurt, but the shortage definately will help 360 and PS3. People buy consoles as gifts, and if some console isn't in the store, they
may buy some other console as a gift (for kids under age of 10, who don't necessarily care and not parents who buy the console, without understanding how important having a certain console may be). But definately PS2 sales will benefit the most from Wii shortages.
