I'm kinda torn between buying this game, and... Well, not buying this game.

Pros:

-I'm a pretty big Metroid fan. (In fact, I prefer it to Zelda.)

-The combat does look interesting.

-The music.

Cons:

-Based on what I've heard, it's awfully linear.

-It's shorter than the Prime games.

-I hate the writing with a burning passion.

-I have to listen to that shit for over two hours.

So, whaddaya say? Should I give it a shot?

As i've said before, it's linearity is vastly overstated. I'd almost say its about as linear as Metroid Prime 2 or 3, which is to say moreso than Prime 1 or Super, but less than Fusion by a good space.

This game sucks so hard. I get the game, already having low expectations, and it still manages to disappoint me so much. All those damn unnecessary prerendered cutscenes must have forced the developers to use a dual-layer-disc and my Wii can't read them anymore.

You should get one of those lens-cleaning discs and run it through there.

How high are the chances that that works?

Higher than your current enjoyment of the game.

I could get it next week!

Would I like this game Khuutra?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Is this your secret way of saying its easy, is loaded with cut scenes and Kojima style story telling?

No it's actually fairly tough in points and I expect you to die alot.

The gameplay, for what it is, is rock freaking solid.

How is the game not very linear?   There is always only one place to go, you cannot advance most of the time unless you get the impossible to miss (since its always a cutscene) unlock so its not even like you can explore and reach dead ends until you backtrack and find an upgrade, you get to see the map in advance, a good majority of the time you are locked out from free exploration with previous accessible areas having doors locked that lead to them.

Fusion was less linear, at least in that you could backtrack to earlier sectors almost anytime you want.  Don't get much more linear than Other M.

I'm not feeling that vibe at all, really. I mean, you've always been guided in one specific direction, and there's generally always been one goal on your plate at a time, that was present through Prime. You only get as much Map shown to you in advance about as Prime, as well. (in that  dot will appear way out in the middle of nowhere, and you fill the map in as you approach it)

That you can't backtrack would be a more valid complaint, though.

So that little furry creature evolved into something that looked suspiciously like Ridley.

And that initial run into the pyrosphere kicked my ass quite consistently, given that i didn't understand that you're not supposed to kill the lava-men.

I ran past them because I always treat lava areas as time trials, pre-Varia.

I really liked the bit with the fish, though. THat part was great. I love me some Team Ninja.
