Forums - Nintendo - The Official Metroid Other M Thread

When God Hand reviewed poorly, I said "Pish-posh; a lot of reviewers just don't like, get it, maaaan"

I was right about God Hand

I'm.... somewhat wary about reviewer reaction to Metroid being this negative. Let's see.

F***oys are always the worst.

They stopped buying the metroid brand (last one only 1.5 m). And when Nintendo changes it up to a more cinmeatic  and  2.5d (critics love that, don't they!) experience, then it's un-metroid. Cry...cry... Let's have the stale prime-thing back - You know, the ones we stopped liking or buying.

Metroid fans... * shakes head *

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I just watched the Gamespot video review, and am now confident this will be a game I really enjoy. It seems like it does make a lot changes to the series, but this was one Nintendo franchise I didn't have that much attachment to. I enjoyed several of the games, and could appreciate them for being high quality, but this title just looks like more fun to me.

GameSpot review? Did they attach a score to it?

Damn. I'm inundated right now. I'll process all of this, including the infendo one Seece pointed out.

excellent looking thread. i would have liked the new metroid to follow similar fashion as previous ones, but i can see many people liking this.

So they're sticking with the authorization method throughout the entire game?

Son of a bitch.

hmm. seeing mixed reviews here and there is what I was expecting... I can understand the whole inner-voice of Samus, but seeing X-play's is giving me the vibe that someone over there definitly wasn't playing it right/having a one track mind on how a game he wants to should be played.

What is this authorization method? (Haven't been following any of the game).

Meaning that technically Samus has all her powers from square one, but she'll only use them when Adam lets her.

Now i'll grant that we've had to go through some significant deus ex machina to remove Samus' powers before (at least at the beginning of Prime, Prime 2, and Fusion), but this seems like the wrong antidote to that. It'll feel artificial as hell.

And damn, scores are leeching lower than i thought. The controversy behind these design choices is not sitting well with reviewers, it seems.

Though we all remember how reviewers bitched and moaned about Mario Kart Wii, too.
