I wasn't there when my brothers did this... so you'll have to wait 'till my brother gets home and/or is unbanned...

I'm not really a chick I'm a dude... I just clicked random 5#17 on the sign-up page and now I can't change it back... -_-

You stated that you had to reinstall firmware and use your "PIN"... What and where is your PIN for your Wii?

He probably was referring to the lock he put so my youngest brother can't play the M-rated games we've bought on it (No More Heroes and MadWorld to name a few)

I used to have this problem on occassion (the "System Files Corrputed" message would appear. (A hard system reset usually would take care of the problem). Interestingly, I don't think I have had it since I removed the PIN that I had placed on there to limit my 7-year-old son from playing inappropriate games.

Now my only concern is an increasingly noisy disk drive. Maybe I need to break out my Power Saves in case I ever need to send the unit away for repair (and yes, SSBB, I am looking at you)

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Lol, hmm, well it hasn't happened again to my knowledge, but if it does, I'll tell him to disable that too. And apparently system resets weren't working

LOL, my brother vacuums out our Wii every once in a while, same with our Xbox and all of our PC's, makes them all MUCH quieter and cooler (the Wii is silent after, only has a little noise before).

The Wii is in an entertainment center because our mom makes us keep it in there because she thinks otherwise it would look "trashy" which only makes it worse -_- So maybe try a little vacuum action?

You really shouldn't use a vacuume on computers of any sort due to static electricity build up from the vacuum.

Use a compressed air can.

I just tried the maintence mode as described in the OP and it actually worked! Pretty cool.

Are you afraid of it erasing the HDD? Idk, my dad is a real big tech guy and he first showed my brother XD

Sure you'll find sites where people say they do it all the time, but it makes perfect sense when you think about it. Vacuums create static electricity and that static electricity can destroy the components. I can of air is not expensive and does a really good job.
