Forums - Microsoft - Square: MS unwilling to work on FFXIV 360 problems

probably because MS doesn't even care if this game comes to the 360.  Like XIV is going to push any hardware for any systems lol.

Actually it will push some PS3s and it already has. Not a significant amount, but some.

The translation thing in XI is Evil !

Had lots of fun with it. :)

Edit : This screenshot reflects my enthusiasm for this system. Awesome. (and totally useless)

no not in any significant way at all.....if someone is going to go out of their way and buy a whole new system in order to play XIV why wouldn't they just go upgrade their PC since they can do it for cheaper and the game will be better on PC anyways?  sure it might sell a few thousand systems but nothing worth getting all worked up on, an online FF is far from a killer app in terms of moving hardware, the game does look great though.

It cost me 300 bucks worth graphic cards, a $150 motherboard, $100 chip and another $100 on ddr3 to play at high settings @1920x1200. It's not like you can 'upgrade' an old pentium iv to a full-fledged gaming machine.. most machines just deserve to get tossed into the garbage bin, they're not worth upgrading.

I'm sure it will play 'better' on pc, but it certainly isn't cheaper, except if you aim for minimum specs, and then you'll probably be better off  with the console version.

If you don't have a decent pc, the best option is to buy a ps3 (to play this game anyway).

I doubt many will care or notice... this game will fail dismally imo.

Hmm.. somehow i doubt that, I've played Final Fantasy XI since it came out in 2002, quit in 2008 and the game is still going strong, as a matter of fact me and a bunch of my friends from FFXI are moving to FFXIV when it comes out.

I get the feeling your comment is just pure fanboyism, hence you got your little mii.. i mean 360 avatar on your sig.

so why 360 got Monster Hunter Frontier?

god knows...

the real reason is probably that square was trying to pull $$ off of MS that they are not giving up... and now square is left with a product in developpment and the desire to put it on 360, but without the benefits of parteneering with MS on the project...

MHF on the other hand probably managed to partner with MS from the get go....

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

I am going to say what is on every Western gamer's mind, but they are afraid to say it because they don't want to upset their Japanophile friends:

No MMORPG from Japan will ever reach comparable numbers to the World of Warcraft. Why? Final Fantasy is too Japan-centric for those who have never heard of Final Fantasy, while anyone who has read a Lord of the Rings book   or a Forgotten Realms or Dragonlance fantasy novel inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien can easily relate to Warcraft.

Final Fantasy 11 has been out since 2002 and according to Wikipedia (take it how you want to take it), "In April 2009, Square Enix announced that the total number of active characters exceeded 2 million for the first time in game history."

7 years to reach 2 million monthly subscribers, while when I played the World of Warcraft exclusively from January 2007 until July 2009, the lowest subscriber number I ran across was 6 million according to the WoW Census on www.warcraftrealms.com.

Redressing Final Fantasy 11 as Final Fantasy 14 is cute, but the past numbers speak for themselves and portend what is more than likely to come in the future.

I would call Final Fantasy 11 a failure in comparison to the World of Warcraft, but that is as trite as saying "its hot" during a sunny day.

Considering Both the 360 and PS2 versions of Final Fantasy 11 performed rediculously badly. Like amazingly badly in sales. It's no surprise that M$ doesnt care about an MMO like FF14 for the 360. I say stick your guns M$. Live is better for it.

PS2 FF11 = 150,000 Lifetime

360 FF11 = 220,000 Lifetime. And this on the most active played console online service.

Like I said this is a non issue as far as M$ are concerned. A keyboard is a must for MMORPG's.

Every MMO is a failure compared to WoW, but that doesn't mean the devs should pack up and go home. That's like saying that all the games that sold less than NSMBW aren't worth looking at.

Who cares ? If it sells well (and it will), most people will be satisfied. It's not like they're pretending that FFXIV will beat WoW. That's just stupid.

If Microsoft doesn't want it, others will take it. It's not like America is the center of the universe anyway.

No one cares? The game doesn't need millions of two year old swearing brats.

PoroPoro pretty much summed it up well.
