Forums - Sales - 360 VS PS3 Weekly Sales Tracker

The 360 has been outselling the PS3 WW for over 2 months now, and the gap is narrowing... ZOMG. I guess some people are reaaaally bad at math.

Maybe 360 didn't beat PS3 all these weeks.

Ps3 got adjusted up.

Heres my take on the near future:

Next few weeks are gonna be real interesting. The weekly sales indicate that the Xbox weekly lead over the PS3 has shrunk to less then 10k. Theres a very good possibility that the PS3 might be able to break the Xbox's 20 week streak. If the Xbox can maintain its shrinking lead for another week or two, Fable and Kinect will launch within a week of each other so I reckon the Xbox can will keep its streak going. If Gran Turismo launches very shortly after the Kinect (theres rumours that the delay will only be several days), theres the possibility that the GT5 sales will not match the Kinect boost. (Halo Reach's opening week boost was around 100k and i have reason to believe GT5 may have trouble boosting even that in its debut week). However if Gran Turismo 5 launches a few weeks afterwards when the Kinect boost has worn off, it will almost certainly break this current Xbox streak.

Next week is when the 160 GB PS3 models launch in Europe. I thought they came out the first week of October, but apparently it's actually the 15th. Also next week, or two weeks from now in the data, the Move is launching in Japan and so is the 320 GB White PS3 models (seriously Sony, why the hell don't you bring those things west?). I would expect a pretty sizable bump in Japan that week, like around 40k-50k. So a PS3 victory that week is quite likely.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Updated, X360 has beaten the PS3 for 11 weeks now!

The XBox 360 should maintain this streak until Gran turismo 5 launches at the start of November. 20 straight sales wins over the PS3 is still good. PS3 once had 30 weeks over the 360 between Sept. 2009 and June 2010. 360s record streak over the PS3 is around 25 weeks.

360 beat the Wii 15 times. PS3 beat the Wii only 7 times. The 360 has had a year's head start over the PS3 and most of the 360s wins came after the 360 Slim launch.

Isn't this a week by week comparsion since the PS3 launched?  The year headstart shouldn't factor in unless you want to compare sales from launch, which doesn't seem like what this thread is about.

As for the Slim, didn't PS3 get it's streak on the release of it's Slim version?

The year headstart isn't factored, go back and look at the op again ...

No, COD MW2 helped 360 get ahead of it in Nov. Again, in the op if you bothered to check ..

Not sure what you are trying to say here Seece. I was just responding to numonex since he bought up the year headstart and saying that the 360s is the reason why the 360 is winning again.

If you reread what I wrote, you will see that I said the year headstart does not have anything to do with this thread since it is a comparsion of sales from when the PS3 launched. I also added that the release of the slim was the big reason for the PS3 sales increase. So basically I was asking what is the point of saying that the sales of the 360 is mainly due to the redesign.

One more week to go. If the Xbox could just stave off the PS3 for another week, Fable and Kinect should give a sizable boost. If the PS3 does not break the streak next week, it probably wouldn't have another chance till Gran Turismo 5 comes out. When is it coming out anyway, have they set a date yet?

No date, probably late Nov/Early Dec. PS3 will win next week, the only hope of it not is MS financials showing we've been undertracking.

I have got a question... Something weird is going on ps3 vs xbox 360 sales. Although xbox 360 seems to be leading ps3 for weeks after weeks, the gap between the two is actually CLOSING. What is happening here?

I believe Move launches in Japan so it probably will surpass the 360 for the upcoming week.

Media Create did not show an increase in ps3 sales, the streak might actually continue this week.  Did the Alan Wake/Forza bundles come out in EMEAA yet?
