I think it's about time I pointed something out. I know I've seen people go "googoo gaagaa" over this in some recent games such as Assassin's Creed...but just a few minutes ago when watching the trailer for The Last Story, I rolled my eyes when I saw this.
What is it I'm talking about, you ask? In these games, players walk by NPCs and brush up against the NPCs, making the NPC and the player character's shoulders move. The trailers seem to love pointing this out, and not only does it look extremely silly, but it doesn't work like that in real life. You don't just brush up against someone when you're walking by them and expect them to gracefully bend their shoulder back and allow you to walk right on by.
In real life, the other person is likely not going to move so gracefully as if you brushing up against them is part of the flow in their walk. They're more likely to be knocked back by your hit (and perhaps fall down as a result), and more than likely to become aggressive towards you.
I've had enough with this silly shoulder brushing that's becoming popular in gaming. It's ridiculous. People don't walk around in real life bending their body almost completely sideways while rubbing shoulders with each other. They tend to have enough common sense to avoid each other, most of the time.
Somoene go walk outside and start brushing up against everyone you pass by. Then come back here and tell me what happened as a result. Please. Unless it's NSFW.
