Guy never been to a crowd indeed.
People are not blocks of stone. Bumping does happen a lot and very will rearely people fall over.
Not having these animations is actually awkward as people look as blocks of stone or something, which is far less realistic. It is true that different collisions with different people are, well, different. But that would be asking to add even more towards realism, and that's against your rant. So yeah, makes no sense to me either.
