I guess that the idea is that since these people are going to buy the knockoffs anyway, they may as well throw their own product out on the market in the hopes that it will catch on.  I mean let's face it, the Wii is an obviously superior product to both the Vii and the Wu, so as word of mouth spreads, Nintendo may hit the jackpot there as it has everywhere else, even with knockoffs directly ripping off the premise.  

 I assume that's the goal at least; essentially to enter into direct competition with consoles that are ripping them directly off, and hope that the ingenuity of their product leads to snowballing success like it has everywhere else so far.

It appears the controller is 2.4 Ghz with a channel selector and there is a memory card slot and sensor bar inside the area covered by the dark plastic.

Well actually it's Nintendo's 6th if you count the Color TV Game consoles from 1977.

Handhelds are side systems. We're just counting home consoles.

And yes Vii sucks but it just goes to show how Nintendo has changed the world of gaming with Wii. Even in ways they didn't quite anticipate or realize. Something tells me this Vii thing will sell more units than it should. Chinese counterfeiting! My God! They're relentless!
