Which Resident evil was visually stunning

RE remake 69 29.11%

RE2 13 5.49%

RE4 94 39.66%

RE5 45 18.99%

The first Resident Evil came out in 1996 and at the time it was great, the graphics have aged to the point its more comical than the voice acting, still a great game nevertheless. RE2 showed a way bigger improvement in what the PS1 can do, RE3 which released two years after RE2 is visually the same as RE2. RE 1-3 are still the best in the series, it's more fun to play the classic RE games than 4,5

classic re games never stunned me because scenarios were prerendred. although they looked good they always seemed cheap to me. and trhis includes rebirth and zero.

the only stunning re game was re4, the pinnacle of the last generation.

while it has better graphics re5 in proportion isn't as stunning as re4. it looks like a lot of other games this generation.

RE remake and zero still looks great for this gen even better than darkside chronicles to me, and that game look really good on the Wii.

Nintendo made me a gamer so I'd be stupid to ever try to forget that                                             like so many people nowadays

The people saying RE5 was stunning kinda makes me gag, I agree the engine looks great, it works really well for lost planet, but for a resident evil game 5 was just really vanilla in a ice cream shop of a cornucopia of flavors.  RE4 was the most stunning, I can't really list a last gen game that looks as good (realistic looking games), there simply isn't one if you ask me and to me because of the artistic style it still beats the pants off of RE5.

IGN said in the Resident Evil 5 review:

Graphics
"One of the prettiest games of this generation. Lighting, textures and landscapes are often stunning. There’s some screen tearing here and there, but it’s minor. Enemy animations quickly grow stale." 9.5/10

Why do you always use IGN as some source of quality the damn game looks sterile, it's much too clean to capture the gritty Resident Evil feeling, and I said the engine is great but it works best for the game it was designed for, Lost Planet, since the clean look works for the ambiance of the series.

Textures are also not that amazing, just saying, RE5 is the perfect example of a lot of work with a good engine not coming together in harmony to make a product that conveyed the feeling they wanted to give.  I have the feeling it has a lot to do with Mikami having no involvement since typically things don't come together because of a leader not having a clear vision from the start of what they wanted to produce.

Anyway IGN gave the game an overall 9.0 which is laughable at best since RE5 was just another game that was turned into a forgettable product that is meant to please the here and now and not be something special 10 years from now, for me only those special kind of games should reach the 9.0 status, it was hyped, people bought it, beat it in no time cause it was a very short game, the story was bad so no one cares to experience that again, they simply play multiplayer if they go back, which co-op made the game bearable since the AI was just bad.

Sorry as a fan of horror games I simply can't get behind Resident Evil 5.

...and that is why your opinion of it is so flawed.

*shock and awe* I wanted a survival horror series to retain the survival and the horror?  Amazing!  Yes my opinion is flawed for asking for at least some thrills, not sterile and bland visuals with bad controls and a complete lack of any character lol

The game was meant to be played in co-op and that's what I did and it was awesome.

Anyway, whether it's an action game or a horror game, the game was very polished.

Resident Evil have not been a survival horror series since like 2002 and RE0, that was the last time a survival horror game released in the series, not counting ports of the PS1 games.

Any oinion based on survival horror is instantly flawed.  Its like basing an opinion of Mario Galaxy 2 as a driving game.

You're the last one that should go around calling people's opinions flawed, especially after that whine fest in both Morgan Webb threads about how she's able to have her opinion despite all the evidence pointing towards bias, so honestly you're just saying peoples opinions are alright as long as you agree with them.

@Boutros

I'm sorry but it still doesn't make up for the AI being bad, see there are a lot of games designed to be co-op but it doesn't hinder you when you play it by yourself, see Double Dragons, New Super Mario Bros, and games that work with co-op and single like Halo 3 and Gears, if you're going to force the singleplayer to rely on the co-op aspect you better make good AI a lot of sites used to hit hard for that sort of thing in their reviews.

I know the whole view that the series is some sort of action series now especially after RE4 but RE4 had thrills, it was hard and I had to manage my resources a lot more, plus it used the stand and shoot controls to make an experience that was thrilling and gave a sense of panic that all these monsters were always closing in, RE5 on the other hand just took that away as well, it turned towards more of a traditional TPS but the issue being tank controls are cumbersome for a proper TPS if it was the exact same game with a different name that would not have been forgiven at all.

Love the mansion in the first one so creepy...

RE3.

and RE4 as a game overall is serverly over rated. (IMO)
