I fully support Nintendo doing new stuff.
I hope it's a character geared towards adults.
And wait a minute... Pikmin wasn't the last newbie, Eternal Darkness was released roughly 6 months after Pikmin. Of course, that's not a new Miyamoto character...
Then again, Geist was also released well after Pikmin, and is also not a Miyamot title.
But hey, I'm all for new franchises. I'd like to see a few more.

Calling it now that we'll know that by September, and no sooner. Possibly might not find out until the platform releases.
I'm more interested by the trophies thing. It would be a neat achievement system, similar to PS3 trophies but with a personalized look per trophy.

Wii Sports and Fit, etc were NEW CHARACTERS.
Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they weren't new.
