Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft targets 5m Fable III sales, profits of $150m

I wonder, when Molyneux will stop hyping things up and create smth relevant? The last game he worked on that was influental and thus relevant is Populous. Well, sales-wise it didn't outperform Fable 2 that much, but the market in 1989 was consideraby smaller of it's current size, so selling 4 million copies is noteworthy.

I can't remember you guys saying something bad about Konami for their 3 million copies target for MGS: PW.

That's because your memory is currently being very selective.

over 5 million, do 360 fans really think this is feasible?? i could be wrong but that seems nigh on impossible for a non shooter.

A word of warning fellow members this thread is a trap. Not only is this goal reasonable, but it is also fairly likely. The goal alone is reachable via logical progression. The install base has greatly increased which decreases the sell through, and it increases the potential audience. The series review scores have improved over time, and they were pretty good to begin with. The sales of titles in the series has increased over time. Any one of these things gets Molyneaux to his goal, but all three together. Seriously how hard is it going to be for him to sell one out of eight 360 owners on this game alone. A successor to a game that was actually quite popular with players as a whole.

That all said just in development this game has a lot going for itself. We have a game in a established series. A game that can be developed off of an existing core. A series which has improved over time. Plus a game that is going to stride a new peripheral. Then you have that incredibly strong simulation market that just eats the market in gulps. Combine that with a action oriented base, and you really have something potent.

That all said have we even seen this game in the wild? I mean a lot of you aren't even making rough assumptions on the given track record of the series, and its sales potential. For all you know this could be an astounding title. Hell it isn't even as if the series isn't known for being innovative. We just have small pieces to work with. The complete product could be something real good.

Actually they could sell 3.5-4M or identically to the first and the PC sales will carry them the rest of the way.

Tease.

If you actually read this thread you would know it's more than fesible, Fable II SHIPPED 4 million, that isn't including the DLE. PC sales should add at least 200/300k as well.

Molyneux Is the new Gabe, except he is not a fat bastard but an arrogant fool.

That is until he appears on Sonys e3 conference..then all will be forgiven.

Nae, Gabe is still fat.  He needs to Kinect with his inner gamer.  (or)  He needs to Move his fat ass more.

I think 5M is very doable.  The PC version should sell well enough to make up the difference.

Given the track record of the series, that sounds overly optimistic.

I'm not a fan of episodic gaming.  Just put the damn game on the disc.  Sometimes this downloadable content stuff feels like publishers short-changing gamers.

I also shudder at the thought of Fable III being "aimed more clearly at females and casual gamers."

Yeah, because that made tons of quality titles on the Wii.

5m with PC version should be no problem
