This is one of Sonys most lasting contributions to gaming: Pegging Nintendo as a kiddy system. They've been fighting the stigma ever since.  Sony's done many good things, mostly in the software department, but that kiddy thing stuck hard.

Uh... I think you've misspelled "Sega". ;)

They helped, but I feel the stigma really was there 100% when Sony came along with their very good advertising.  Sony did serious things while nintendo did kiddie things.  This was a common distinction and still is to a large degree.  Sega may have begun it, but I feel Sony really drove the idea home.

It was either that or a new Deadly Creatures.

Probably not as much as they wanted GTA on a Nintendo platform.

But it's clear Take Two thinks cartoony games sell on Nintendo systems, not good games, so they gave us cartoony GTA with comic books art on the ads, not gameplay.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Is this game really necessary to make Nintendo look mature? The 3DS already has Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid, and I'm sure there's plenty more to come. Why would they want to port an XBLA game when they've already got those killer apps?

2 games define a system?

Halo 1 and Halo 2 did.
