Good for the industry. Bashing Just Dance and now praising Dance central doesnt make anyone look like a prejudiced hypocrite.

I know, right? Remember how they bashed Haze and now love Call of Duty? It's like they don't even know that all games in the same genre deserve equal praise.

Except the perceived lack of quality of Just Dance wasn't the main source of it's criticism (there were reviews, such as the Eurogamer one, that suggest it actually is a decent dancing game after all) and everybody knows it.

No, the real criticism would be elitist harcore gamers and gaming journalists alike turning their noses up at the mere suggestion of the existence of a dancing game. They were outraged that a game was created that targeted an audience other than themselves. You know the type, the ones that think gaming is 'their' hobby, and that nobody else should be able to enjoy it if it means a perceived 'dumbing down' of games by creating casual dancing games (or other similar casual games) 'instead of' games that would delight said elitist hardcore types. Of course there's no evidence to suggest that games like that are made instead of such games, but then that type of gamer has never been one for logic or reason...

So it is a little surprising when they then turn around and praise something like Dance Central. But hey, like I said, logic and reason goes out the window with them.

Really? Driver? I thought that "shift" thing looked rancid.

WoW conspiracy here.

So a good dancing game that actually works is getting some love from the industry and all you guys can do is to talk nonsense that MS paid them? Look what Just Dance did saleswise. I think if Kinect is a success Dance Central can do the same or even better, just because Kinect seems to work out well for Dance games.

I won't buy this, but I can see a lot of people buying this.

There is no Halo, Fable or Gears of War on that list. So I doubt MS paid anything.

Is it a rule of thumb, to create a cheap stab towards any Microsoft Exclusive titles on the internet? I doubt Microsoft bribed reviewers to give those games high scores, I say game reviewers are being caught in the hype. Despite me not being a big fan towards Halo and Gears of War, I admit that they'r extremely well made games..... except for the multiplayer department for Gears of War 2, bugs and glitches destroy what could've been a potentially great multi-player. As for Fable, they receive good reviews but most don't rave about it, the Fable series is rated fine.

Even journalist like Adam Sessler (One of the best in the industry, despite being a spaz) claims that such states that such accusations are ridiculous.

I can really see people in ten years time reminiscing about there time playing Dance central on their xbox 360 like I reminisce about super mariokart, super streetfighter 2 or Starfox on my SNES. Where are the real games like Killzone or Halo? GT5 or infamous 2?

Dance Central, best new game? Really? I think we have just witnessed the death of hardcore gaming then. It not about longevity, innovation, requiring skill, graphical prowess or amazing gameplay anymore. It about which game will appeal to teenage girls and their parents.

Family friendly unit shifters to paraphrase Kurt Cobain.

This is not an exit.

I doubt it would really affect the industry in a devastating way, there are still other hardcore games winning "Best Game of E3" awards. Rage won many "Best Game of E3" awards, and deservingly so. Dance Central didn't look so bad (Other than the nerdy representative demonstrating the game, that footage is bound to be a popular GIF on the internet), it looks like a good dancing game and much better than what they've shown at the disastrous Konami press conference.

Most of the games we've seen in E3 weren't innovative, most of them are sequels/spin-offs/remakes/re-imaginings/prequels of other game franchises. Not that is a bad thing, innovation is important, but execution is far more important. Tresspasser was an innovative game for it's time, but it was a horrid and poorly executed game. Ninja Gaiden didn't do anything new, but it's a superb game. I guess we need some of these innovative failures, so developers can learn from their mistakes and execute their ideas well in new titles or sequels.

Fuck the lulzers, any site that gives props to Lost in Shadow gets my respect.  It's going to be the best game no one plays this year...

What gets me is that this is an opinion piece from a major gaming blog. Yes its their opinion, but how can I now respect their opinions on other topics when there were so many quality, exciting games in e3 and they picked a low innovation game aimed at teenage girls as the best game of E3?

oh, and who ever said the games I mentioned are not fun? killzone? Halo? :)

This is not an exit.

The industry wide gaming press about face likely has more to do with the game being from Harmonix than it does being a Kinect title.  Games press adore Harmonix and everything they do, despite the fact they exclusively make casual/crossover games.  No it doesn't make any real sense under examination, just accept the inherent hypocrisy and move on.
