Forums - Nintendo - Iwata earns $770k basic salary, Miyamoto gets $1.3 million!

You guys are making it overcomplicated.

The economist Peter Drucker said that when times are good a CEO or suit should be making 10 to 30 times as much as the LOWEST paid employee on his payroll. That means if Mr. Stringer is making 8 million dollars a year then the lowest paid man/woman on Sony's payroll should be getting 270k a year IF he was making 30x as much as the lowest paid guy.

That 270k is Druckers example of a company working in the black and that the times are good. I feel that 270k number for Sony's lowest paid employee would indicate just how much Mr. Stringer is taking home... from an ethical point of view.

It's wierd how media can cause a loss of perspective on what money is.

Money is method of quantification: Time is essential as it is needed to establish a measure for production.

That simple rule states that product(ion) and time work together in formula and the equality would be some ammount of money be it negative or positive.

One person made a good point though, he was voted back in at the same rate, so there is no debate on Stringer's pay any longer ^_^.

But I assure you that even if your insanely lucky or successful 8 or 9 million dollars (USD) comes slower than it goes. But it depends on value.

On a trip to Europe I spent nearly 3000 dollars in two weeks on just food's, not counting hotels, train rides, boat/car rentals, resorts and everything else. The dollar to the Euro for food was an interesting one.

Back in America I could get the same stuff but in two weeks only spend $1200ish on foods and night life.

While I know people who don't even make 1/2 of 1200 in two weeks.

Can't imagine how much Shiggy be could be making if he didn't ask for the moderate salary he makes.

Looks like Sony is overpaying for their CEO....

not at all

IWATA and many companies head take small checks to show they are earning very less

but they take in much more throught shares

Quite fair, though, so the biggest part of their earnings depends on their results.

not always

when a CEO knows the company is going to profit immensely

he may decrease his slary to show he is a humble person or does get paid very low but shares do own him much much more

Sure, it should be care of the companies to write contracts that avoid abuses by weasely CEOs and are fair toward both parties. Sadly far too often high level execs have a devilish ability to be overvalued and overpaid by companies, whatever kind of contract they choose. I'll never understand it, I'm always suspicious when I see someone showing excessive self-confidence, particularly if marketing is in some ways concerned. And a wannabe CEO trying to sell himself at the highest price IS marketing.

Edit: nothing less and nothing more than a whore extoling her "virtues", to be blunt...

Doesn't the ex-president of Nintendo own a massive amount of the stock and is a billionaire?

The major shareholders are the ones making the real money. Though this information doesn't surprise me.

One can argue that Stringer is the CEO of Sony as an entire company, which requires a broader range of knowhow and leadership skills (especially with his aspirations to interconnect all the different parts of Sony).

That's just an argument though.

yes Yamuchi still is the majority stock holder and profits vigorously,he is value around $7billion

but current president IWATA will have alot of shares too if not the highest

I wish I made that much so I could pay for school...

Guy with the metal gear ava, I may be wrong but I'm picking up that you spend much too much time reciting words like millions and billions and lost perspective of how many 1 dollar bills and time related that it takes to make such words as billions a possibility.

The magnitude of making 8 million dollars in a year may be flying your head. Especially off just a salary if it is just his salary. Heck 4 million in a year or 1 million is quite a sum.
