Forums - Nintendo - What DKCR is lacking compared to DKC- Retro may have dropped ball.

From the looks of video's, becuase I have obviously not played the game, It seems DK and P. Diddy lack soul and emotion compared to the Super Nintendo versions.. They seem robotic, as far as emotion goes compared to Rare's. I used to love the SNES versions. RARE seemed to give the monkey's alot more character compared to the robotic emotionless Retro. so I will have to be a tough critic of this game if it doesnt have the same heart soul as the SNES versions. Am I totally wrong here?

This game final outcome will show if Retro can do anything other than, IMO above average shooting games.

Gingers don't have souls remember.

i noticed they looked a lil stiff but dont worry theres time im sure Retro will do fine.

Judging by who  the OP is, I'm going to assume this is a trolling thread meant to invoke a response. It's a pretend attack on the game, that the  average minded person would find ludcrious. We are meant to think that this is bias in disguise, but it's really not. I doubt the OP has any opinion towards the actual subject at all, or iroinically, actually disagrees with his own OP, or in all likelyhood, like myself, finds the  subject nonsensical in every possible definition of the word.

However, I will comment on the OP as if it were a serious post, because  you never really know for sure. IMO, I don't think there is reason in this case to impart emotion into the characters of a 2D donkey kong game, and furthermore, in the case of this game, which is meant to be humorous and surreal, it is completely and utterly insignificant. Rare didn't add any emotional depth in the original games(a false belief of the OP), because there  really is no reason to. The game isn't story based, and there isn't a hidden theme of loss or someother  such nonsense. It's utterly rediculious  to believe otherwise imo, and anyone who reads or experiences any emotional depth into Donkey fucking Kong smiling a toothy grin and giving a thumbs up at the end of a 2d platforming level is obviously playing the game for the wrong reasons.

Also, Retro is a far better developer than you give them credit for, which again, I feel you added to stir controversy, and not because you or anyone actually believes that.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

You're wrong about that opinion so I'm going to assume you're other opinion is wrong too :P

If Retro was good at one thing, it was creating very emotive worlds, and creating them from next to nothing.

They'll do fine.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Sorry to say, I wasnt a fan of the move to  1st person on Metroid .

Also, I have to add Metroid on SNES shat on anything Retro  has made for GC and Wii.

Super Metroid > Anything Retro has touched.

I want this gameto play welll. And I am assuming it will sell very well

I hope DK and co. have as much soul as they did in SNES. It just seems like with all the upgrades to graphics, some forget to add alittle more flavor/ heart and soul to the beautifully detailed models.

I for one will not be that fool who eats up anything nintendo spits out.(COUGH GOLDEN EYE)

I would miss the silly facial animations Rare put in those games

Just by having simultaneous co-op without collision detection makes me already feel like it will be superior than the original when i play with my cousins. Plus if your reason for dkcr being weak is a 5 second repeating non-movement animation, then your picking some microscopic nits dude. :)

I have to agree with Turtuls and most of the other posters. I don't think the small animations are going to make or break DConkey Kong Country Returns. Their are far more important things like water levels and animal buddies I'm suprised the OP chose to find an issue with something as minute as Donkey Kong's facial animations!
