Forums - Nintendo - Must have GameCube games

oh, and Mr Gay on GayCube with all them rainbow colours would just be a bit too warm for my taste - actually, might get it in any case.

OK, here is the deal.

I never played Paper Mario on N64. I never played Paper Mario on Gamecube. I thought Mario RPG was good but not great. On the other hand, I love Super Paper Mario.

So, should I get Paper Mario from the VC or buy the Gamecube one?

Thanks.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

Download the VC game. The GC game is fun, but it's an evolution of the N64 title. The core gameplay is the same. I understand Super Paper Mario does deviate substantially from this playstyle, though.

I enjoyed Paper Mario immensely, and so did my siblings. Of all the games on my Wii, it has the best ratio of dollars spent to hours of fun.

I agree very much so marcus1979, Phantasy Star is a good, and it's one hell of a long game. I mean seriously, talk about value for money ^^ If you have someone to play through the game with aswell... goldust.

And Yea Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader is awesome!

I made an account here just because this game wasn't mentioned yet:

1080° Avalanche.

I like it better than SSX3. It just controls perfectly and it's very fast. It sucks that the tracks are often quite short and that you can't play all tracks in multiplayer. But it's still one of the most played games by me and my family.

Really, play Mario Sunshine. The beginning is a bit tedious, but then it gets absolutely great.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

Pikimin

and DK: Jungle Beat.

The only two really essential games imo.

Maybe viewtiful joe would get in there too, and metroid?

Stuff like mario sunshine, zelda, f-zero, RE4, mario kart, beyond good & evil etc are all really good games, but really, just updates on old concepts, bringing little new to them. Still high quality, but not essential.

There were quite a few real disappointments too: mario tennis: far worse than the n64 version. 1080 too.

Overall, the GC was a really weak nintendo console.

You're going to skip Pikmin and Chibi Robo?!?!? Pikmin attack!!!! ;) Chibi... go plug yourself in and come out when you're ready! You have some dead pikmin to clean up out here.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Eternal Darkness
MGS: Twin Snakes
Geist

All of these are M games which are horribly underrated.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
