Totally shocked at those 360 numbers, they don't seem right at all as the 360's got a big discount here in UK and from what i can see are mostly sold out. I guess there were either not that many left or people waiting for the new console to release next month.

Also interestingly PS3 is only like 100 units from being down year over year, who would of thought that coming off the back of E3!

How surprising that you mention PS3 in negative light despite that it is still only console up yoy. (DS down 105k, Wii 19k, PSP 33k, X360 14k). You really love downlaying PS3 don't you ? Also UK =/= EMEAA.

Ok then........

I am not sure if you are aware or not but this is a computer sales website, that means we might be talking about sales here. Would it make you happy if i changed what i wrote to "PS3 up by just over 100 year over year yay, yipeee let's throw a party!!", is that what you would prefer to hear?

You can take what i say in any light you like. I mentioned it was almost down year over year. You take that as some kind of offence. The fact you do is not my problem.

It's just funny that you ignore overall video game market situation and only cherry pick PS3 sales. The whole market is down in EMEAA compared to last year and that is also why PS3 is hardly up (Wii is actually down even with price cut). It's not that surprising.

That is quite biased is it not?

All i said was the PS3 is almost down year over year...Do i need to give a whole analysis with that statement for it to be true then?

Stop being so paranoid :)

Actually in EU PS3 sold 2008 level numbers last year during this so called bad period. It was mainly because of bad American and Japan sales why it had that bad period before slim. Now it is hardly up because whole market is a lot down in EU. (For example Wii is down despite it had price cut)

PS3 Others sales this week in 2009 were 10K less than the same week in 2008. I checked when I made that post.

The whole market being down is not a 'cause' in the way you treat it. It is a result of the fact that all consoles are either aging or in trouble. These falls do not line up with the economy in general, retail sales around Europe are generally flat while the games market is way down. In other words the whole video games industry is struggling, including PS3 which is only flat against a weak time last year.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

This time last year:

ConsoleWeekly (change)Total
DS 192,086 ( 1%) 41,815,169
Wii 85,528 (-4%) 18,726,322
PSP 66,232 (-0%) 20,053,078
PS2 52,834 (-2%) 59,105,749
PS3 52,690 (-0%) 9,749,972
X360 46,776 ( 4%) 11,559,866
Total496,146(-0%)

Wii down 17K YoY, PS3 flat, 360 down 14K.

Disastrous all round. PS3 being flat is also worse than it may seem, when you consider this was not too long before the price cut.

Over two months before price cut....

Yeah, which was a bad period for PS3 if memory has abandoned you. If it's flat now, just think how YoY's will be in August. PS3 was already down 10K YoY in others region this time last year. Being flat against that is bad.

Well the slim wasn't announced until early July if my memory serves me right... so the numbers aren't THAT worrying yet. Of course, the main sales period starts in September and that is when YoY comparisons will be more important

Even though the 360 Slim didn't release in EMEAA, wasn't their a price cut for older 360 Sku's ? Or was that just in the UK ?

OT : Damn, I was expecting MGS : Peacewalker to boost the PSP but it's down from last week. Alright numbers all round.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Well, how fortunate, I thought those sales were normal at this time of cycle of a console. After almost 4 years, I think that an aging console is normally selling less after a certain time. Those sales are normal for me.

Pretty ok week for all, HW and sw both...

pretty sure 360 arcade had at least 3-4 days at 119 pound and the elite at 149 there next week should be a full week of the price cuts for the old skus if sales dont pick up i dont know what else MS can do in total others

Piracy on PSP is really bad in Europe, on our national gaming forums everyone is talking about how awesome Peace Walker is, but people that actually bought it are in minority. Also we can't see the PSN sales and Peace Walker was topping the chart for PSP software.

Other HW numbers are disappointing, PS3 is lower than I expected, Xbox is dying out in Europe, that's irreversible process which will continue to go on till new hardware revision (not slim). Wii is at a similar situation, peaked a while ago.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Nice to see PS3 beat the 360 hope that continues. Damn pirates, I love the PSP but Sony needs to launch the PSP2 now and make it as hard if not harder to pirate than the PS3. I can imagine the attach rate if you include illegal downloads is like 10 per system.

No, what you posted was bias.  You picked out the one console that is actually up YOY, and played it like it was bad because E3 was recent.  I'm sorry, but if my memory serves me right, MS and Nintendo were both at E3.  And look at that, they are both down YOY.  Even with pricecuts for both their consoles.  So, if PS3 is still up YOY next week, and the Slim has little to no affect on 360's sales, will you still downplay the PS3?

And in my neck of the woods we have a little saying for almost being down YOY.  It's called not being down YOY.
