Why does VG Chartz have the WW Software at 490m (including Wii sports)?

I'm tired of hearing people say that third parties don't try much for the wii. Monster Hunter Trii is an awesome game and so is No more heroes and I'm sure many other games as well. The problem is, the wii owners buy mostly Mario and Party games. What would you do if you were a developer? Try to make a great game and get poor sales or make yet another "party" game with little effort and get great sales? |
Which 3rd party Wii games deserve sales that didn't recieve them IYO?

The ones that I mentioned (MH3 and No more heroes), except if I'm wrong and they're not 3rd party. The reason I mentioned these two is that they both received good reviews and every person I know who has played either one thought they were great games. Thus, I expected better sales.

you aren't the first person to bring up the " quality games don't sell on Wii" argument, so let me clear up a few things for everyone:
Monster Hunter Tri- 1.47m this is the best-selling console monster hunter yet.
No More Heroes- 0.48m one of Suda 51's best-selling games ever.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom- 0.29m not only did this game exceed Capcom's expectations, it outsold the two DC Marvel vs Capcom games combined, as well as most of the other vs Capcom games individually.
BlazingAngels: Squadrons of WWII- 0.99m not quite an exemplary game, but it did outsell the 360 and ps3 versions combined, and it's not a nintendo or party game.

But Monster Hunter Tri has like 1.4 million sales, that's pretty good in my book. It should end up with at least 1.8-2 million sales, which is very good. Normally, especially when you consider the low budget for a Wii game, selling over a million should always be considered a success. Granted most of those sales have been in Japan, but haven't been so bad in the West either.
No More Heroes is made by Suda 51, and his games tend to be niche games with a narrow appeal. None of his games have really been a success. The lack of success in Japan on the HD consoles should show that Wii has little if anything to do with the low sales of this franchise.
Like I've said, I've yet to see a 3rd party game that didn't get sales that truly deserve them. The vast majority of them are either of poor quality, or simply have limited appeal. Games like LKS and Zack and Wiki are great, but are extremely niche and wouldn't have done much better on any other console.

I would disagree. Games like No More Heroes didn't sell very well at all, but are some of the best games of all time. On the PS2, mediocre games (*cough* MGS3, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII *cough*) managed to do very well.
The Wii has more good games than any console on the market, other than the NES or SNES.
Well, ok! Let's all take every bundled games from PS2 too and pretend wii sports wouldn't sell (tens of) millions copies if not bundled.
