Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy XIII On Xbox 360 Being Phased Out By UK Retailers

selnor said:

LOL.

The article says they could phase out the 360 version.

A quick phone call to GAME made my friend laugh. His reply ( He's the manager of my local GAME )

" If we are phasing out FF13, then we will phase out every JRPG on 360. Because FF13 is the best selling 360 JRPG. Stocks will lower, but we will always stock it. To be honest the PS3 version isnt all that great either anymore. "

So according to the OP article, Lost Odyssey, Tales, TLR, IU and the rest of JRPG's could be phased out completely.

Oh dear. A slow news day.

Last time I checked:

Last 4 weeks of sales in Europe for FF13 on both PS3 and 360.

PS3:                                             360:

9,882                                            12,672

8,844                                            11,806

6,946                                            7,009

8,383                                            6,395

Next thread.

Final Fantasy XIII to be phased out completely due to 360 version selling currently better than PS3 version in Europe.

LOL.

PS3 version: still full price

360 version: half off

Of course it'll sell better at the moment (hence the potential phase out), but look, 360 sales drop, PS3 sales stablilize

Dont be rediculous.

The article is full of holes and BS comments.

First up excluding the sales of Japan for FF13.

PS3 sales is 2.2 million.

360 sales 1.41 million.

Not a big gap. Oh no, COD 4 has sold over 2 million more on 360. PS3 version must be phasing out of stock. LOL.

And everywhere the high street in UK has FF13 on both platforms virtually the same price. Here is UK's LARGEST video games retailer.

Here is the shock for you. The collectors Edition on 360 is £5 more expensive on the high street than Ps3 version.

Again the article is a load of bollocks. Yeah a game that has sold 1.4 million in less than 3 months on a single platform is really gonna be phased out. LOL.

I dont think its the 360 games being phased out, its just that games that are non-shooters, like RPGS or maybe racing, have a better following on the PS3 console. although that might change slightly this year with Vanquish and Medal of Honor leading on the PS3 console...

First off, saying "excluding Japan" killed all credibility to your argument, because even with Japan, what would that have added? Less than 500K to the total sales?

Secondly, the CoD4 example? Straw grasping much? Reason it sold better on 360 is because when it released....there were more people with 360s. It wasn't as if the title wasn't as popular on the PS3. Look at the attach ratio. It's nearly the same. Here with FFXIII, it seemed to actually be less popular by comparison, so they slashed the price to clear inventory. You may want to stick with just GAME, but the article talk about UK retailers as a whole. GAME has them at the same price, but Amazon UK has the 360 version at 17.99 UK money

Online retailers are 'not' high street.

HMV, Curry's, Sainsburies, Morrisons. Check them. They are the same price. Who's grasping at straws now?

Your on a Sales website and you say Japan accounts for 500k?

Try an extra 1.84 million. Japan accounts for 1.84 million of PS3 FF13 sales.

In the West PS3 is only 700,000 ahead of 360. 2.2 vs 1.41.

So no. The article is complete tosh.

1.41 million sales in less than 3 months on the market is fantastic. And will hit 2 mill Lifetime. Great sales for FF13 on 360. PS3 version will likely do 2.6-2.8 million. In the West.

So all in all, there is no way in hell, retailers will stop stocking a game selling well.

Now I could understand if in less than 3 months it had only sold 400,000. But reality is it has sold very very well.

The article is flawed. I have shown massive evidence why. Both all retail high street prices and fantastic sales for less than 3 months even against the PS3 west version. Or are they gonna stop stocking PS3 FF13 to in the west?

When I was referring to Japan, I meant how you said "excluding Japan" to help bolster your argument. Let's assume that a 360 version of FFXIII came out in Japan. There are under 2M 260 owners over there, and if FFXIII had anywhere NEAR the same attach rate as the PS3 version in Japan, it would've sold 500K MAX. So stop saying "excluding Japan" because even if you included Japan, the numbers wouldn't change much at all.

As for retailers, the damned article itself is referring to online retailers, and what's especially clear is "It could mean that they phase out the Xbox 360 version completely, something that isn't uncommon on Play.com after titles are featured in sales." It's something that Play does commonly. And it could, *could* happen with other retailers

I excluded Japan because PS3 sales without Japan are not much better than 360.

So the point that FF13 would be phased out on 360 in EU, would almost certainly point to PS3 also. As both versions have tracked nearly identically for over a month.

and the 360 had an excklusive advertising campaign

leave platform exclusivity, advertising by SONY would have alone stolen many of 360's sales

if PS3 was exclusive it would have gotten way more attention than it did, like MGS4 big time

SONY would have marketed it big time and it is is one of the long lasting elite franchise

it would have easily done the 360 and PS3 numbers plus some more on PS3 alone

LOL.

and the 360 had an excklusive advertising campaign

if PS3 was exclusive it would have gotten way more attention than it did, like MGS4 big time

SONY would have marketed it big time and it is is one of the long lasting elite franchise

it would have easily done the 360 and PS3 numbers plus some more on PS3 alone

this

I think MS should apologize for marketing Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360.

1.5 million on one platform is not a bad thing.

Selnor is right with this one.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
