Forums - Gaming - kinect lag up on jimmy fallon

Lol, Kinect made a big hit on the show and received a lot of praise from both the audience and Jimmy and the best you could come with is some minor lag?

Casuals will love this for sure.

Jimmy Falon is the biggest butter rubber host in the history of television, so ofcourse he'd look excited, regardless of his true feelings. As for the audience, they're told when to applaud.

Well, I never saw any games on it besides Gears Of War 3... and he was not very excited about it. And the audience was not as pleasant as this one. So I stand with my opinion.

I dunno.   I just watched the video again with my kid (She says we should get it) and Jimmy and even Amanda's reactions seemed pretty authentic.  Also, I thought the crowd's reaction was staged--and it still may have been- but some of the things that they cheered for at just the right time--the guy controlling the "applause sign" would have been abusing it.  I think it was actually impressive to the people in attendance.  Keep in mind that, like Conan before him, Jimmy's audience is typically college aged.  They're going to be more receptive to video games than, say, the 40 year old Jay Leno/Letterman crowd.

I said it in another thread:

This mainstream media attention is priceless and that is why I think Kinect will succeed. We have seen this with the Wii and we are seeing it now with Kinect.

I doubt it's that straightforward =)

Haha sad thing is that looks more interesting to me than the Kinect games shown off at E3.  I'm wondering why no one made a fighting game with Kinect seems like it would be a good fit.

Kinda funny how the motion sensors back then and 32X both retailed for 150, was meant to extend the consoles life as well as quench some demands from gamers, and they both essentially went with little support and divided up the userbase, cause you've got these guys with the add-ons with the rest of your base without them, developers had to learn the new tech as well as thinking they're starting back off from a userbase of zero for these new technologies... risk vs reward typically spelled the developer played it safe.

Since I was alive and was a very informed and active gamer back then, I'll say this:  General consensus back then was that the Activator didn't work at all for anything.  Neither did the U-Force or the Power Glove.  And, in those days, peripherals were notorious for their lack of support.  Nothing but a few titles for Super Scope, the Menacer, the Nintendo Mouse, etc. etc. etc.  It seems like companies are more willing to support devices like the Wii Balance Board, Guitar Hero/Rock Band, or the new motion control devices.

*edit* Now that I think about it, theActivator was only used with pre-existing games.  There weren't any (that I can remember) Activator specific games!  I guess it was designed to fail.  I can understand the logic, though.  Rather than limit new sofware to people who bought the console and the peripheral, they decided to sell the peripheral to everybody that had a console to use with any game.  It still failed hard, though.  That's the biggest thing going against Natal (and to a lesser extent, the Move).  Unless they find a way to make pre-existing AAA quality games work for the hardware AND sell games that will only function for folks with the hardware, MS and Sony may both be in for a  rude awakening.  Nintendo packed there device in with every single console.  MS and Sony don't have that luxury.

So im guessing that Kinect being in the top 3 of Amazon for the last week (currently number 2) and Move being way down at 57 must have quite a few people on this site in a frenzy.  Apparently all the gamers on here miss the reality of how well Kinect has gone for the casuals it is targetting.

it seems that there only is lag for the girl , how that works I don't know

I'm more concerned about the voice recognition, it seems that voice recognition is a bitch

Kinect is no longer racist. It is now sexist.

I think the major issue was her clothes.  She has on this very shiny, reflective material.  I'm not an expert on infra red, but I'm pretty sure that can't be good for getting a solid, accurate interpretation of the model when the reflective material may be bouncing the infra red away from Kinect and distorting the data.

Amazon does'nt mean nothing. How many times do I have to tell people this,it's not a reflection of  sales. Amazon is'nt the be all,end all of how good these things are going to do. There's plently of other online store sites.
