Forums - Nintendo - Square Enix lie more: FF V and VI not on DS due to "technical issues"

They'll be on 3DS for sure. Final Fantasy VI will be one of the few JRPGs I'll be replaying for the third time - the others are Paper Mario and Chrono Trigger.

Can't wait to see Atma (and not Ultima :) ) in 3D!

This is old news.

Also V and VI are vastly larger than III and IV. So I don't understand how Square is lying here?

And the DS doesn't have a 3D screen, hence... Tech issues.

This sucks, seeing as how 3DS has power comparable to the Wii it will take at least 15-20 years to make FFVI remake, since FFVII on PS3 would take 30.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Wait you're right...I saw it on GAF at the front page and thought it was new...

It actually is old news though about a month or two back I believe is when I saw it on here. Probably a different article though

Around the Network

These pretty much confirmed to be 3DS titles in the future.

The maximum size of V and VI is like 4MB for the original games. This is also true of IV. There is no way that there is a technical problem for V and VI that would not have existed for IV. All three were on the same system, and none used any special tricks.

I don't mind delays for remakes. Because you always want them to come out on the most powerful system there is.

If FF7 released for PS3, people would be saying "man, I wish they would have waited till Ps4" 5 years later.

I think the only real difference between them was that FFVI used Mode 7 for the world map, which is what gave it that 3D-like appearance, but nothing that would make it impossible to put on the DS.

S-E lies out their asses lately.

I had forgotten about that. On the other hand we have remakes of IV, V, and VI on the GBA already with no issues. Why do companies refuse to just give straight forward answers? The answer is as simple as it not being a financially sound decision to invest that much money into a DS title this late in the game.
