You can also note that I have no plans to play FF14 on ANY platform.............

Then why feel the need to post in a thread about the game?

OT:
Well... The next 2 console Final Fantasy games aren't on the 360. XIV and Versus XIII. Makes you wonder really if the 360 will get XV. If it releases this gen...

XIV would be on 360 already if not for Microsoft's draconian Live requirements.  Versus will probably end up on 360 anyway, though it's really a glorified spinoff.  I don't really see much to indicate XV missing 360 if it's made on current gen consoles?

"According to Square Enix, they all take place in the same world but in different time periods and there is no cooperation between the teams of the various titles, the only connection being a "vague crystal theme"." wink

If V13 is a spinoff of 13, then all the games set on planet Earth are spinoffs of eachother.

If Versus XIII were called XV, it wouldn't be a spinoff.  Or do you also consider Vagrant Story and FF Tactics to be mainline FF games?

So spinoff are about naming conventions. That makes a lot of sense.

That tends to be the standard when you look at a long running numbered series.  If SE wanted Versus to be considered the next mainline Final Fantasy, why wouldn't they name it as such?

Not all spinoffs are created equal either, I see no issue considering something X-2, Crisis Core or Versus a "more mainline" spinoff or side game than something like Crystal Chronicles, Tactics or Chocobo Dungeon.

It will be ported eventually. But MSFT is being really stingy with cross-platform servers. They don't like that for some reason. Also SE doesn't want their members to HAVE to have Xbox Gold to play XIV, but MSFT will not allow that either.

It will come in time.

Glad to hear there will be a huge story focus. That makes me happy.

For MMOs you don't need gold. You need Silver and Final Fantasy Monthly Fee. (Or that is what I remember reading)

The only MMOs that work this way are FFXI and PSU, both of which released within 360's first year.  Since then Microsoft has seemingly changed standards and it's either caused a confusing fee structure (Monster Hunter) or seemingly kept MMOs off the platform entirely (FFXIV, Age of Conan, Champions Online, etc).

Wow so much negativity for xbox 360's online approach by MS.

I thought I never see Jarrod and Pro-Sony Bias in the same sentence ever.
