Forums - Sony - PSP ads taking over TV

does that mean saying a platform should die and be discontinued should be allowed?

The PSP should be discontinued.

Now, you're saying I should be banned or warned for this post? Stop being so sensitive, it's just an opinion, and people are free to express it.

Final year of the PSP... next year either we will see a PSP2 or the PSP brand will be left 4 dead And no, Im not talking about a port

This is why your my favorite psp fan! You are more realistic than most. Also seriously just because we don't believe it will rebound, we are psp haters.....isn't that fair?

I don't know how its even allowed to say what you people are saying "Discontinue it, it sucks, its dead, kill it already" ..honestly? THE 360 is barely selling more than the PSP.. and its install base is 20 million units behind the PSP.. why don't you guys go there and talk crap about the 360? Oh wait microsoft is pushing it with kinect! Well sony is pushing the PSP with the ad campaign..

None of you even own a psp why are you posting in this thread to begin with to say its over, it should be discontinued?

If the 360 sold the same amount of software as the PSP outside of Japan, I'd be calling it dead too.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

I like those new ads for the PSP.

But I hate cheap-shots. Like butler's ads, the ones that he talks only about the games are great, the others where he talk smack about wii, natal and everything else are quite arrogant.

But I hope there'll be a PSP2, done right this time. I don't like the PSP for one reason... it's just really what the name implies... a portable playstation. The same thing could be achieved pluging a mini tv on a PS2... that's where he failed, imo, and no amount of the best graphics in the world could make it attractive to me - not after what the DS has achieved.

So I hope this PSP fails... but only to make space for a new PSP, with unique capabilities.

And what is the 3DS? Tell me? Because what nintendo's line up is, is ports from HUGE console games.. and everyone is going crazy over it..

The PSP's line up has improved drasticly, you and many others dont research, PATAPON, HOT SHOTS, LOCOROCO, are just 3 of many great handheld franchises that make the PSP a unique handheld, and no they aren't console games on a handheld.

I'm not talking about the games, I'm talking about the way you play the games.

I'm talking about doing music in electroplancton with your voice. I'm talking about cooking a recipe in Pokemon by misturing a things on a cooking pot, or by getting scores by your dictation in Brain Age.

Those things. Nintendo games are great... but what made the DS a phenomenon was they way people played them.

You can do that in several PSP games.. the DS has a touch screen and simplified software for that too, but the PSP also has a mic and games like invizianimals and the upcoming eye pet that offer a unique gaming experience beyond just buttons. Idk what you are trying to argue with here

Oh really? So if I say very bad things about a console I don't own, should i be allowed to do as  I please? Because this thread is all about that agains the PSP

BTW.. WHY ARE YOU GUYS ATTACKING THE PSP and not giving opinions on the ad campaign? I mean isn't that trolling? You aren't posting on TOPIC but instead saying "fuck the psp, it should die already" ..

Maybe you should re-read your opening post. You were talking about the PSP having a comeback. So whether or not it comes back is part of the subject of the thread.

I said that sony is trying to turn around the PSP situation with the ad campaign.. I never said its going to make a comeback, do you guys think it will or will not? Regardless even if I did saying "No its a failure, it should die already" is not a good way to respond ever

annoying kid -.-

Psp harware is good enough, the graphics are satisfying imo.

A new model copying 3DS 3d functionality for the new games and everything else stays the same for backward compatibility. ofcourse, I know so little about the 3d technologies so I am not sure if that's possible.

So many things wrong assumptions with the statement you wrote.

1. 360 is stagnating as well, but it has "slim" remodel, plus a silly product called kinect to help it out.

New advertisement isn't the same as launching an attachment and a remodel.

Sony ps3 didn't rebound due to advertisement alone, it was the slim launch paired up with the price cut.

Given this is for another thread, but I don't think 360 is going to do as well as ps3 slim launch. Possibly in January-June if Kinect fails, it might be in much worse condition than it is now. In which case it either has a pricecut, or I label the hardware side of things dead.

2. Grimes pointed it out.

3. How do you know everyone who posted in this thread saying those "negative" things don't own a psp. I own one, and hunter_alien owns one (or more). Plus I think number of people in this thread own one, or have owned one.

4. I don't expect rebound, and I could be proven wrong, happened million times before. Does that mean I hate my psp? or love my psp?

These ads are targeting the 15-30 demographic. The PSP problem was never the 15-30 demographic, but everyone else. That's why these ads won't help, they do nothing to expand the demographic. They are trying to sell to people that are likely to own the system already.
