Gamestops here starting selling them Thursday 17th, but I spoke to a guy at Best Buy who said thier official "street" date was Friday the 18th.

Regardless, I completely agree that it was not largely advertised (and yet it was still a bitch for me to find one).

I completely disagree with "you cant stop the PS3" but hey, to each his own.

Ok, as of now,  the new 360 bundles have price cuts on the old skus, even though they are in limited numers and "upgrades" of new skus with them sitting at around the same price but with wi-fi and more memory.  Well, that's nice but these things probably won't be big selling points.  I'm not expecting kinect or Move to be big selling points either.  In the end, MS isn't being aggressive enough to caputre market share b/c they could probably cut price by $40  or so and add these features at the same time.

Also, what has changed since the E3?

-The PSN plus has been added giving Sony another source of revenue, which helps a lot  Helps a lot with what?   Will SONY possibly have more money before they started this service?  Yep.  How will it affect things in the short term?  Unless they have something like a >60% adoption rate, I don't see it having any immediate effect.  Down the road, after they recoup investment? Sure.  This year?  I'd guess very little.

-The PS3 will soon have Steamworks, giving developers one more reason to choose the PS3 for PC/PS3 games and kick MS to the curb.  Adding the PC gamers to the mix will give developers more than enough $$$ so Sony will have to moneyhat less now (to give a PS3/Pc "exclusive" to avoid the 360), which will save them $$$$.   Have you SEEN the attach ratios and userbase for the 360 in America?  If you think any developer is going to kick the 360 to the curb anytime soon...welll I'm sorry but you are a bit delusional there.  When the 360 had close to an 8 million unit lead WW, they didn't kick the PS3 to the curb, but because of steamworks they are suddenly going to forgo the entire 360 userbase?  Please.

-The 360 has a slim version now, that is 18% smaller than the orginal....whoah market changer here guys.  The PS3 slim is 30% smaller thna the original.... and this is as small as the 360 is going to get, it ain't getting any more "freebies" now.  This is its last beneficial turn of events.  So you think that people actually measure the percent difference in size and make a purchase decision on that?  Really?  I can see it now...  "Hey you know I was really going to buy that new 360, but it's only 18% smaller..DO NOT WANT"...

Additionally what arguments do you have to support that this is "the last beneficial turn of events"?  Just because you said so?

It's been great so far for the PS3, more and more to come.  I am completely fine with you feeling happy with your purchase and hoping for more great things for your system of choice.  I'm not even disagreeing that the PS3 has had a good past year.  But to off-handedly dismiss the strengths of the competition with no real cogent arguments...well, I think it'd be more genuine for you to just say, I prefer the PS3, so it's better, period.

See my comments above. ON topic, as I said in an earlier post, I think it will be close this week, I think next week the 360 does outsell the PS3 WW though (my 2 cent prediction for what it's worth).

I think forum posters sometimes equate disagreement with hate.  So let me be up front:I don't hate my PS3, nor do I hate Sony.  But I disagree with just about everything you said up there, sorry.

it's safe to say something will happen. one will out sell the other next week.

it most likely will, I was talking to my friend ay gamestop and he said the first batch of 360 slims sold out in the first hour, but it seems they're coming out slow, they're taking pre-orders on the next shipment that comes sometime early-mid july

it probably will first week or maybe second aswell but after that prob not. pretty much everyone i know who has a 360 doesnt hav any intention of buying this because you cant yous your old games data which would suck. also its not realy much dif to xbox other than wi fi built in which ps3 had since launch :P

MS has likely moved all available initial 360 S inventory since it sounds like many retail outlets have been receiving limited shipments (which are selling out).

While most of those are likely going to current 360 owners, it doesn't really matter for the purpose of hardware tracking; these are still new units being sold at retail.

What may have an even greater effect on the 360 hardware numbers over the next few weeks is the availability of the discontinued and discounted SKUs. $149 and $249 are both excellent values for those new to the current console generation.

The question is how much inventory is remaining for the current Arcade and Elite.

The next big boost once inventory levels are depleted will be from the launch of Kinect, which will undoubtedly be effected by the final bundle MSRPs.

It is only available in North America currently and does not go on sale in Europe until the middle of July. I suspect the initial spurt from the US will be very high and will be dependant on supply but should easily bridge the WW gap between the 360 and PS3 for a couple of weeks then the Europeans will get hold of it and may continue to bridge the gap.

We should see continued demand leading up to Xmas period and then we wait and see how Kinect pans out if the new control systems have neglible effect I expect Microsoft to drop back behind the PS3 again but only marginally.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

There will be a huge 360 boost in North America, which will probably be enough to bring the 360 above the PS3 WW.

The PS3 will, of course, sell better in Europe and Japan.

Not when slim actually hit shelves. After that 360 will sell better in USA and Europe. But as of now 360 sales will go down in Europe, since people are waiting for the slim which isn't out here yet and the old models haven't gotten a price drop yet.
