The reason I wrote immature in the title is because Joystiq was saying it was immature, I forgot to add the link in the post. Like I said before, I do not mind the games not being violent I actually enjoy it since torturing people to death to me is not a game.

Question: If the fact that it has non-violent games means that it is not immature, why do the ratings call more violent games mature?

You guys really need to stop sucking people into reading these threads. Nintendo has always had the least amount of M rated games since the N64 days. We know. This thread makes it sound like all people that plays the Wii is immature, which I thought what this thread was gonna be about. Guess I was wrong.

The term mature is often horribly misapplied. Somehow people have come to associate it with violence and sex, neither of which really have a thing to do with maturity.

 Because that's the label they use to suggest a game is not suitable for children. Why do they need such a rating system? Because a game that isn't considered suitable for children is actually quite likely to appeal to children. Think of it this way. Which TV show is more likely to appeal to children; The West Wing or Jackass?. Now of those two, which one gets the Mature rating? I'll give you a hint, it's not the show with intelligent and mature subject matter.

 So far the smartest game this gen is Zack & Wiki, a game which most definately did not get a mature rating.

Well there are a ton of games for Wii that are meant for young children. That's because the Wii appeals to all ages...you don't see such games on 360 and PS3 as much, because they're more expensive, and don't appeal to young kids as well.

That doesn't mean the Wii or its userbase is immature...perhaps it means that those who play the Wii are just there for some entertainment, and perhaps don't need an M rated game, which means blood, language, or nudity.

Actually, I find more of the "E" rated games to be more mature than the "M" rated games.

They don't call the games mature.

They say you need to be mature to play that game.

Big difference, and a lot of people make the mistake of calling a game mature because it has a Mature rating.

The ESRB advises that only mature people, 17 and over, can play a game such as Halo.  They're not calling the game mature. 

 That is probably the best logic i've ever heard when it come to this subject...

Hmm, Portal gives it very good compeition for that role.

 Then lets all hope for Zack & Wiki 2: Pirate Portal Plunder
