Forums - Sales - Realistically, how much of an impact will the new Twisted Metal have?

Honestly, maybe 1.5 to 2 million, but it will still be incredibly fun especially with Online. Its gonna be awesome.

As long as there is a great Kevin Butler commercial, and the multiplayer lives up to the hype, I'll get it even though I've never been a huge TM fan. It'll be at least moderately fun.

Its definitely gonna sell more than Warhawk xD

2 million is a safe bet but it would sell 3 million with good/AAA reviews and its multiplayer-centric.

I know people that doesn't give a damn about mainstream console games (hello Xbox), that are waiting for The Last Guardian to release since Team Ico games were the only reasons for them to buy the PS2. So even a niche title can push hardware / make an impact.

Think about it this way: Sony is competing with MS in the "HD Wars" and Sony's content tactic is diversity and niche against MS's mainstream. That's why Sony supports interesting exclusive titles be it 1st or 3rd party (Demon's Souls, Heavy Rain, TLG to name a few). Now these games may not sell gangbusters, but they have an audience which won't buy the Xbox, because it's titles aren't interesting to them. As Jack Tretton said during last year's E3: "Our customers aren't one trick pony".

And as you can see, it works. People generaly prefer something new (atleast relatively), to milked franchises over and over.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

it's going to do what it's suppose to do. if it's good. i'll get it.

it wont do much to HW next year ps3 might be priced at 249 or 199 so that will move consoles as far as the game itself i say shy of 3m by end of 2011  4m lifetime

Not much... I was shocked Sony reserved the last spot of the conference for Twisted Metal.

I can accept Xbox slim for last and definately agree on 3DS stealing the show in the end... but Twisted Metal??

I agree, it was strangely anticlimactic.

I agree, it was strangely anticlimactic.

The game world stopped when the Twisted Metal's theme song began playing... the E3's audience was crazy.

Sony has definitely achieved the desired impact.
