Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo has so much, why did they show so little?

Im impressed by what they showed. I missed it when it was actually live due to work. I came home and my head was spinning from all the threads and the game list. Now, if I had to report on this I would not even know where to start just from the show itself. I was impressed by Iwata naming some of the biggest 3rd parties and what they are going to offer on the onset of the 3DS. Even though a lot of thoose are not my style of games, it was a nice gesture by him.

Because no matter how much they show people always bitch. You say youre not complaining but thats exactly what you are doing.

They showed a ton. Shut up, soak it in and enjoy when it releases

I'm not bitching about them not having enough at E3, just wondering with so much content to show why did they show so little during the actual show. As it was explained in the thread I thought the show was amazing, just thought that those screens and such that Nintendo released could have been put to better use in the conference itself.

I love what Nintendo has shown so far!

Not enough time, that's why sony announced games beforehand.. I think nintendo's method was better though.. it kept suprising people and thats better

There was only so much time they had to show what they wanted. That's why they have their E3 website, to show off what couldn't fit into the conference.

I personally see it as a good thing that their conference was already great, WITHOUT a bunch more stuff that they didn't even show.

they basically showed the gaming press the middle finger, by announcing and showing off most of their stuff on their e3 website.

SUCK IT PRESS!!!!!!

Because, unlike Aaron Greenberg, they know what "embarrassment of riches" really means.

I won't respond to all of your points as some others have already addressed them but I just read an article at IGN where Miyamoto (mental blank on the directors name) explained the direction they took for the Zelda demo/display.

Their primary and even sole focus for the show was to show people how the new controls worked.  That is they intentionally haven't shown much of the game and didn't include any dungeon or puzzle sections because they wanted people to focus on the controls in the action segments.

Chances are that there wasn't much more stuff of quality for Nintendo to show of Zelda, and they figured it was better to show what they had than to not show it at all. That is the way I see. I just hope they don't show us the rest a few months before release. I want to see a consistent output of information from them. As for the 3ds stuff, the games are most definitely in their early stages. We are lucky we got screens. I also want to see more of the Vitality Sensor. I didn't understand why they announced it last year, yet we still don't know what the hell it is used for in games other than monitoring your pulse.

Literally the only thing they could have done better in my eyes is show Xenoblade and Last Story and announce them for America this year.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

Nintendo will probably have a few events this summer, followed by a couple events in the fall, and Nintendo will want to be releasing fresh information at these events. On top of that, had Nintendo released more information a lot of it would have been lost in the mix.
