Forums - Gaming - So which will be more Successful- Kinect or Move

I wonder how much responses here reflect the poster's personal system preference instead of the facts.  Maybe I'll do a poll asking that ...

Anyway, Move's effort to appeal to everyone may limit its appeal to anyone.  Sure you can play Socom or Killzone 3, but how many hardcore gamers will do that when they can play it with a controller just fine (or better in their opinion)?  I would suspect some but not many.  So what is the appeal to casuals?  Is the experience different enough from the Wii to THEM?

But Kinect?  Very, VERY little hardcore appeal and not compatible with any game you can play with already with a controller.  So all of its focus is on the casuals at launch.  So its about how THEY feel about it and not us.

So ask around and see how the feel about each of these.  Or look around for how the mainstream press is talking about them.  Ultimately THAT is going to be more relevant than anything we have to say about them (especially since its doubtful anyone on this thread has played either of these at this E3).

As for price, nobody can say until something official is announced for Kinect.  So please to talking about the $150 thing.  Please.

I'm a Sony guy and hate both! lol

on the first night of e3. I put my national news (ctv for you canadians out there) and kinect was talked about...on mainstream national news. Plus MS will be able to push it more in advertisement. That kinda exposure nets the win.

It's like when the wii first came out, I remember walking in the mall and the main plaza area had big screens tvs with wii sports being played, surrounded by all types of ppl, interested first to see the video games, and hten interested to try them. Kinect is has that type of attraction.

Like some one said, Move might have better precision and all, but it's the same to ppl who dun care as much as the tube surfers of this site.

Kinect because it's being launched to a larger user base and because it's way more unique. Anyone who really cares about motion controls already has a Wii

For the US I think it's difficult to predict, consumers there usually buy into hype much more than the rest of the world, so should be very dependent on marketing strategies.

For the rest of the world I think certainly Playstation Move as Kinect is simply far too laggy:

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

It's easily going to be Kinect.  Sony still doesn't get it that when it comes to casuals and you'll see the result of that when there's a repeat of the beating they last got when the Wii launched.

Kinect, even my mum knew Natals real name before I got back from work and found out. She despises all things gaming but Kinect has tickled some interest.

She said she read it up on the internet lol?

Move will be much more successful in Europe and Japan due to its hardcore games... But in US it's all about Kinect.

Move.... for now. Kinect games weren't really that interesting. The starwars demo didn't even show any significant running or walking, but we'll see. Kinect is a lot more interesting but i think it will end up on how software will take advantage with the hardware.

Both of my national news 6PM shows covered Kinect. I think it'll easily outpace Move at least in terms of public awareness.

Kinect actually does things which the standard remote cannot do or cannot do easily but it doesn't do things which you would call the mainstay of the standard controller as well whereas Move has significant overlap. How many times have we heard the words 'oh but it could have been done on a normal controller' in relation to a Wii game?

Kinects target audiences are people who don't play games, people who are intimidated by the controller or people who are underserved by the current Wii. Move is targetting an area up stream of Nintendos own offerings and is in the natural path of an updated Wii or future core Wii titles.

Kinect is simple and easy to plug in. It uses a rear facing USB port and it doesn't require batteries/charging. Move requires a lot more attention from the owner than the Wii does given the Wii only needs two sets of batteries to keep charged for two players.

So I say Kinect.
