I honestly would buy the Panasonic plasma if I was in the market. Its the only diplay that I saw that jumped out at me and looked better than my Samsung 3D DLP. It also could be the movie it was playing... They are not really allowing for a fair comparison in stores since they are playing different things on different TVs. Samsung plasma was playing Monters vs Aliens, Sony is playing chance of meatballs and Wipeout HD videos and Panasonic demo is playing alice in wonderland and sone other #D generated cartoon...forget which one.

Otherwise that Samsung plasma you listed  should be good if its comparable with the PN50C7000 model that I saw them sell here. It seemed slightly worse than the Panny, but it should he 500 bucks cheaper. Advantages samsung has is that it has 2D to 3D conversion, which is othing to brag about but could work nicely with a few games/movies. Also it has much better 3D glasses which are made by Xpand. Pannasonic ones are made by RealD and I honestly dont know what they were thinking.

In other news, Sony is completely gone bonkers in terms of pricing these TVs. This is the pricing of 3D TV's in Canada... Notice the 2 that stick out in terms of price/size ratio?

You saw it at Futureshop at Toronto Life Center or Toronto AMC theatre mall...whatever it is called.
(I am not stalking you), but that one is the best I seen. Given I would give the technology few more years, before picking it up.

Which one is the best u seen? The Panasonic?

I dont wanna wait a "few more years" for 3D tech to mature. U mean the quality of the 3-D and 3-D glasses, right?

Price and Quality, also to see if the technology takes off. Yes the Panasonic one, given I haven't seen real side by side. So my point is invalid about that.

3D will crash and burn and this just supports that idea.

I wouldn't quite say crash and burn, I think it will just fizzle and then come to life in about 5-10 years with glassesless stuff

Plasmas use a lot more electricity than LCDs. I hope LCD makes plasma obsolete.

Year 2010 called. It wants to tell you that you live in year 2006 when plasmas were energy hogs.

Both the 3d plasma and 3d LCD from samsung have Energy star rating of 4.0.

hah, close. I saw it at best buy across teh street :)

I mean, its dissapointing that they don't have 2D to 3D conversion, but the picture is just so smooth... I prolly wouldn't even care with all the 3D content coming.

The best LCDs are more efficient even though plasmas have improved. I don't think that will ever change.

I wouldn't rely too much on Energy Star either, the program is under federal review because of widespread fraud and abuse of the certification process. The GAO submitted fake products which such as a gas powered alarm clock and a air cleaner that was actually a space heater and they got Energy Star approved.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.
