Forums - Nintendo - Two Nintendo Rumors(one for 3DS, another for...Wii Hi-Fi)

Wi Hi-Fi is a new version of Wii? Fake, why make it as powerful as an Xbox 360, they saw with the DSi that third parties didn't make games exclusive for the new model, and the DS is far more successful in terms of third parties support; making that kind of console and not making exclusive games (or just few) would be stupid. If there's an upgrade, it won't be more powerful, or just enough to handle HD resolution thanks to a upscaler, but it will have much more, maybe a kind of Natal...

If Wii Hi-Fi its wii 2 is still fake, powerful as Xbox 360? Don't kid me, Nintendo knows the importance of power, they'll never make an 8th generation console with neither the power of the most powerful console of the 7th gen (PS3). Plus, this doesn't seem the Nintendo way to show a new hardware, I think we'll first hear speaking of Wii 2 by Nintendo in E3 2011, not before: now they must see how 3DS performs, 3D is a very important step for gaming.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

The 3DS info is fake. There is no way a chinese blogger can have dev kits when capcom itself doesn't even have one yet or any other 3rd parties!!!!!

I'm not sure where the dev kit claim came from but the Chinese writing in the OP is written in the first person by a guy who claims he works for Foxconn.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn

If the guy was legit he wouldn't reveal the company he works for...because they'd track his ass down for leaking stuff like that.

Just for comparison, Wii was announced (as Revolution) 18 months before it's release.  The next system being announced at E3 would follow that perfectly for a Q4 2011 launch (and also follow Nintendo's usual 5 year console cycle).

Now, I'm not 100% they'll do something like this, but it's not exactly unprecedented or even unlikely.  Nintendo tends to formulate their plans around Japan, and Japan is looking like it's very much in need of Wii refresh...

Exactly. Its highly sensible, except the predicted specs. I imagine such a thing would outstrip the 360. Not considerably, but enough to be noticeable.

Oh I agree there.  There's decent cost SOC designs now even that outperform 360... I'd expect the jump there to be more comparable to DC to Wii.   I'd actually expect a powerful enough chipset with enough RAM to actually run old Wii/GC games in higher resolutions (like Dolphin).

Wii HiFi is possible, 3DS info is fake

People actually beleive that HiFi is "possible?"

Well keep in mind that Wii was announced in 2005 as Revolution and didn't get released for over a year before launch. Nintendo's five year life cycle ends in 2011 making it the probuble launch date for Nintendo's next console. Microsoft is over due for a console as well so expect that NextBox could be announced at this E3.

Chances are Nintendo will hint at HiFi if that is indeed the codename or actually confirm it for release in the near future. Also keep in mind Miyamoto stated that the next console would have HD support he said so back in 2006. This means the console was already deep in development.

My bet is the console will be announced briefly at the end of Nintendo's conferance. However Nintendo might hold off till next E3 as they did with 3DS as to catch consumers off gaurd. But a new home console announcement from Nintendo is more then just possible it is a 50/50 chance in my mind maybe even 60/40!

The NES lasted for 7 years guys. And then some. The SNES was a little under 6 years in Japan. The market determines the life span. There wasn't enough for the Gamecube and N64. It's not like Nintendo has some plan to only go 5 years (and why would you? If you can still ell it after 5 years, why stop?)

Second, why do people actually think a Wii HD is plauable? Wii HD (which is the same thing as HiFi) is just a Wii that is also HD. Anyone can tell you that HD has done nothing this entire generation. Yet now Nintendo is ready to just shove HD in there? The executives at Nintendo have said that the next console will be HD because HD cost will be much lower by the time they release one. But then also know people will not buy it becaquse it is HD (which HiFi is just HD). There have to do something else for people to buy it.

Nintendo will not launch a new Wii until Sony does. Why kill the Wii at 5 years when it will still be selling at 5 years? The HD twins might last that long, but the Wii will go longer. The best selling system always has the longer life span. I suspect Sony's next console in 2012, so that's when Nintendo will release another one. I doubt Sony has a console ready to go for 2011, but if they do, only then will Nintendo follow.

Odds of it being at E3 2010. Pretty low.

I'm exited about the 3DS and if it's something like that photoshop it's ok for me but i think the real thing will be different.

Also Hi-Fi (or whatever they name their next console) could be an announcement as, "oh by the way next year we will show you our next home console", but i think they will wait until next E3 or maybe something like the 3DS announcement. I'm almost sure "Wii 2" will launch at 2011-2012.

I don't think anybody actually thinks that it will be a Wii HD but a Wii 2 announcement isn't impossible, look at the DS sales yeah it drop a little but it could sill sells and 3DS is confirmed. That said i don't think they will announce Wii 2 this year (unless it's mention very briefly) a 2011 announcement is more likely.

If Nintendo did reveal the concept for their next console at E3 (not impossible) I guess that would really blow the roof off the place.

I'm not saying this blog is right (it probably isn't), but if it's true that the 3DS also has a 3D camera, that could be massive.

Screen that outputs images in 3D camera that can detect your position in 3D space = swordfighting game where it actually projects a sword into your hand O.O

Since 2007, Nintendo has maintained a strategy where they are not releasing much information about products until they’re very close to release; and with the success they have had I wouldn’t expect them to change their strategy. The 3DS is a very good example of this because it is only a few months from being readily available on store shelves and no one knows anything about it.

It is likely that Nintendo is finalizing their next generation home consoles and some key third party publishers (EA, Activision Blizzard, Sega, etc.) have information about it to anticipate its release; and it is possible that Nintendo might release this system at the end of 2011. I personally see it as being amazingly unlikely that Nintendo would really talk about this system before E3 on the year they’re releasing it though; and with the 3DS coming out this year it certainly won’t be released before E3 next year.
