| Smashchu2 said: The NES lasted for 7 years guys. And then some. The SNES was a little under 6 years in Japan. The market determines the life span. There wasn't enough for the Gamecube and N64. It's not like Nintendo has some plan to only go 5 years (and why would you? If you can still ell it after 5 years, why stop?) Second, why do people actually think a Wii HD is plauable? Wii HD (which is the same thing as HiFi) is just a Wii that is also HD. Anyone can tell you that HD has done nothing this entire generation. Yet now Nintendo is ready to just shove HD in there? The executives at Nintendo have said that the next console will be HD because HD cost will be much lower by the time they release one. But then also know people will not buy it becaquse it is HD (which HiFi is just HD). There have to do something else for people to buy it. Nintendo will not launch a new Wii until Sony does. Why kill the Wii at 5 years when it will still be selling at 5 years? The HD twins might last that long, but the Wii will go longer. The best selling system always has the longer life span. I suspect Sony's next console in 2012, so that's when Nintendo will release another one. I doubt Sony has a console ready to go for 2011, but if they do, only then will Nintendo follow. Odds of it being at E3 2010. Pretty low. |
I don't think anybody actually thinks that it will be a Wii HD but a Wii 2 announcement isn't impossible, look at the DS sales yeah it drop a little but it could sill sells and 3DS is confirmed. That said i don't think they will announce Wii 2 this year (unless it's mention very briefly) a 2011 announcement is more likely.
