Sadly, I think Nintendo will always be hated until they make a HD console.

No then they will find another reason to hate Nintendo
wether you like it or not aside from a handfull of top top quality games alot of games that are released on wii and ds are either complete crap or too childish for older gamers to get into

Rising Star- No More Heroes 1&2,Little Kings Story,Fragile Dreams,Muramasa,Ju-on the Grudge(i liked it),Harvest moon,Rune Factory,Baroque,Bomberman,Rygar,Super Swing Golf, valhalla knights and sky crawlers. All good games in my Opinion. Sega-Mario and Sonic 1&2,Conduit,House of the dead 2&3,Overkill,Sonic Unleashed,Zero Gravity,Black knight, secret Rings,Ghost Squad,Madworld,Shiren the wanderer,Nights,Lets Tap,Sega Superstars Racing,Tennis,Super Monkey Ball,Samba de Amigo and bleach. Rising Star has had very succesful sales compared to what they used to have.Sega Have made a ton of money. |
Don't forget that, although the Mario and Sonic series is very average, it saved Sega's financial report.
Nintendo will always be hated. Always. But do Nintendo really care? They have the love of their fans, and the company is marked in everybody's head. Everybody will remember their games.
Personnaly, I think I'll never be able to not buy intentionaly a Nintendo console. I would buy their next console only for Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Zelda and 3D Mario.

It's not that Nintendo has strong first party (even though they do) compared to the third party. There are a couple of strong third party games amongst the shovelware that will only be purchased by a small minority in the Wii community. Most of the Wii owners know about the commercial successes which are mainly the first party titles. When I see the sales of that Just Dance over Mad World....you know you're not dealing with hardcore people. Nintendo needs to back third party companies (especially on third party exclusives) for quality control like Sony does. I like Microsoft but they have only ok quality control and Nintendo has horrible third party quality control.

It has nothing to do with that. I still love the PS2 as much as I love my HD consoles....but the reason for that is it has games that appeal to me. The Wii appeals to a mass audience. Most of the gamers on these forums represent the minority of hardcore. Some accept what Nintendo is doing...others dont.

Uh, Just Dance is probably going to outsell everything on either HD console not named CoD, GT, Halo or Gears. That isn't saying much.
The fact that Wii owners are buying Just Dance in itself is not a problem. People not buying Mad World isn't an issue, either, since it was destined to perform about as well as it did (see anything from Clover Studios).
Wii owners are very picky about what they want. Games that appeal to their values tend to do far better than standard (last gen) games with tacked on Wii controls. Nintendo understands this, and builds their games with this in mind. People don't just mindlessly buy anything Nintendo comes out with (see how fast AC or Wii Music fizzled out).
Take Monster Hunter 3, for example. A great game, but most of its sales potential in the west was squandered because it's basically a last gen game on the Wii. I have no doubt it would have done better as an HD multiplat with improved graphics in its current form. However, if the game were built ground-up specifically for the Wii, drastically changing the series by implementing things like motion combat, a better interface and all, we really may have seen something else. This would have taken far more effort than the route Capcom took, though, as well as potentially alienating fans in Japan.
Since no third party has really given it their all for core games like this, it's tough to say. One thing is for sure - you cannot just take old series popularized in the Playstation era (mostly cinematic games) and slap it on the Wii, expecting sales comparable to HD consoles. The games that perform best are those with some arcade roots, like most popular games from the 8 and 16-bit eras. Quick and accessible fun.

There's no basis for that assertion. It outsold the previous PS2 version with ease.

So the only assertion that could be made is that the success of the PSP games meant this game would have sold better than the PS2 versions on the HD systems, but not necessarily better than it sold on the Wii.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
