Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo hate?

Everybody's gotta get their Nintendo hate out of the way now, because in just a few days they'll all be announcing Wii Sports/Play/Fit/Music/Party clones for the Move and Natal, and calling them awesome new ways to play awesome new ideas.

Also get ready to hear some more whining about how Mario doesn't have blood and Zelda isn't an MMO, and other random nonsense.  Nobody can talk shit about Metroid though.  She almost gets naked, and she blows planets up.  If anybody complains about Metroid, they're either a closeted "casual gamer" or they don't even realize they're contradicting themselves.

Nintendo is the best first party developer in terms of quality games, and the industry knows it. That's why they are on full damage control mode right now, because it's right before E3, when Nintendo could blow everybody away with Zelda, 3DS, and Vitality Sensor.

The more hate Nintendo gets, the better they are doing. That's my perspective at least.

The fact is, at least while Sony and MS are in the industry, there is NOTHING Nintendo could ever do to gain significant 3rd party support. They have made their console the cheapest, easiest to develop for, have worked with them, let them make essentially any game they want, and have established a market leading 71 million userbase, and still the 3rd parties shun or ignore them. They are forever doomed to half assed or no 3rd party support, that is unless Nintendo games greatly drop in quality or lessen drastically in sales and support. It's a paradox really, in that the better Nintendo is, the more alone they are, and will continue to be.

This is because unlike with MS, and Sony to a lesser extent, these 3rd parties are in direct competition with Nintendo, and lets face it, most of their games don't hold a candle to Nintendo's games. And rather than going through the hassle of actually examining the userbase, and creating a better game with more effort and more appeal, it's easier to just run to the HD consoles, where Nintendo is not competing with them.

Whether or not they want to admit it, most of these 3rd parties would love nothing more than the Wii to fail, and the PS3 and 360 to dominate the charts. This way, their biggest threat, Nintendo, will be marginilzed like during the N64/GC days and they can shine on the consoles with weaker 1st party libraries. Unfourtunately for them, the customer has seen otherwise, and the customer is always right.

And don't fall for the "it's hard to develop separately for the Wii because it's not HD, THAT's why it gets little support!" argument. It is merely an excuse. Remember that Gamecube and N64 both had comparable hardware to their competitors, yet still they got shunned. Because even with powerful hardware, the consoles still present one problem for the 3rd parties, and that problem is Nintendo.

... this. wow. great read.

I second that. I like his philosophy behind it. I agree to an extent. It's competition but its also business. Remember, MS and Sony are notorious for paying big $ for good 3rd party support.

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

when i clicked this thread i thought it is about why Nintendo fans seem to hate on everything lately, but i guess in a way it is...

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

3rd parties are just mad because Nintendo have strong enough 1st party that they don'thave to be reliant on 3rd parties and therefore don't have to bribe 3rd parties to make games for them

they taken too long, man their biggest game of 2009 was super mario bros wii, not ground shaking just good of mario and wii sport 2 and wii fit 2 took all mains.

they did ignore their core gamers for almost a year. months after mario we got another mario... you get it now..?

it would be nice nintendo put some muscle in creating new games.

Well those tow mario games were excellent, and it was one year here look at this:

Excite Truck - November 19, 2006

The  Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - November 2006

Super Paper Mario - April 9, 2007

Pokémon Battle Revolution - June 25, 2007

Mario Strikers Charged – July 30, 2007

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption- August 27, 2007

Battalion Wars 2 - October 29, 2007

Endless Ocean - November 9, 2007

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - November 11, 2007

Super Mario Galaxy – November 12, 2007

Disaster: Day of Crisis – 2008 (Not America)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl – March 9, 2008

Mario Kart Wii - April 11, 2008

Wario Land: The Shake Dimension - September 22, 2008

As you see they didn't abandon their gamers as some people says, yes 2009 was a bad year just 2 new gamers games (punch-out and NSMBW) but that was an open for 3rd party to make something and they didn't some doesn't even try.

It's true, I have noticed a lot of Nintendo hate among not only the gaming community but also the gaming press.

I've noticed a sort of consensus among the gaming community that if a game is on the Wii, it is shit.  You should have seen the shitstorm that occured at my secondary school when Super Mario Galaxy won the BAFTA for best game a couple of years back instead of Modern Warfare.  Even in the comment of IGNs review of Galaxy 2, the arguments against the score generally form the basis of that Wii games cannot get 10s.

Over the years, I've come to expect bugger all on Nintendo systems from 3rd parties, I honestly believe that their is basically nothing Nintendo can do to attract widespread 3rd party games.  But the thing that annoys me if the assumption that '3rd Party game do not sell on Wii', when many games have proved otherwise.

^^

Also it's funny how people says that if nintendo had the PS3/360 graphics the 3rd parties would develop for them, that have been prove wrong before. If i don't remember wrong 3rd parties took a long time to fully "appreciate" the ds and even now Namco-Bandai says bullshit about it so i don't think we will get a lot from support from 3rd parties on the nintendo side, that could change but i don't think so, i really don't know why i mean yeah they are afraid from nintendo but what would happen if nintendo goes 3rd party? (not gonna happen but what they think would happen)

Why does everybody seem to indulge in the false argument that, in order to make your console of choice seem good, it is necessary to belittle the competition? This true of the proponents of each of the consoles this generation.

There are posters here who, in every other respect, seem to be intelligent and articulate but who feel the need to descend to puerile name calling when discussions about the merits, or otherwise, of the various consoles arise.

Such neediness is both sad and unbecoming.
