Definately Super Mario World. Nothing against Super Mario Bros. 3, but Super Mario World was just so damn good. If I could only play 1 game for the rest of my life Super Mario World would be right up there on the shortlist.

• Cool new enemies with Dinosaur Island
• Yoshi, greatest power up/character to be introduced into Mario, ever!
• Some crazy levels and cool worlds
• Loads of secret areas and levels (anyone ever complete all the super hard star world levels?)

My vote goes for SMB3, wich for me is the best Mario EVER!

Super Mario World

I go with 3.

Yoshi is a great power up, sure, but I think all the other unique power ups 3 had kind of make up for that. The thing that really makes this hard is your ability to re-play levels. But SMB 3 nailed the physics for the first time and introduced most of the ideas that became basic for 2D Marios. And Giant world was awesome. Oh, there was a movie for it too.

Super Mario World

Mario 3 is legendary, but World is just better in every single aspect - okay okay, it lacks the koopa airships and tanks!

Yoshi's Island is my favourite Mario game ever.

But if I had to choose, I'd choose World over 3, though they both are by all means masterpieces.

Hey, I love the first one, in fact I still play it every now and then. But if you play that (and it's sequel) and then any of the other Marios, 3 and after, the difference is easy to notice. I mean, it's not that the others are all the same, but the difference between any other and the first one is bigger than that between any of the other ones, even if you look at New Super MArio Bros on the DS.
