It basically has built in Wii MotionPlus, if all 3DS has is an accelerometer, I'll be disappointed now.

Uhm not sure about that, the other day I tried a FF1 remake for a while and I must say, it was quite good.

You dont need much buttons for that, but still.

no it's not useless for gaming.. it's actually gaining alot of market share over the DS/PSP.. you just don't notice it because we don't track apple sales.

Also iphone always had motion controls, this one just has more advanced motion controls
