Forums - General - Why is the word "LOL" so overused nowadays?

it's a sort cut to avoid typping the full word.

Would you prefer ''xD''?

Anyways, the abbreviation itself is not bad, but what I hate is when people use it and add a question mark at the end. You can't laugh and ask a question at the same time, it doesn't make any sense!

lol? See, it's just stupid.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

That's a trend. Now,the Internet trend is to Fail or Epic Fail, people starts to say less LOL and more ROFL or LMAO but I think a "hihi" is still quite understandable that you are laughing right now.

what do LMAO, LULZ and ROLF mean?

You know that an internet expression is over-used when you hear someone in RL using it in a whole different language:

Me:  Claudia, deixaste cair o rato do teu pc (Translation: Claudia, you dropped your PC's mouse)
Her: LOL, a serio? (Translation: LOL, really?)

-_-

 True story?

Yup, my GF uses LOL a lot of time, without any form of context at all since it doesn't fit anywhere near a phrase said in portuguese.
