Forums - Microsoft - A price cut is the only thing that can save the 360 from 3rd place

There has been an arcade unit for $199 for a while, hasn't helped much has it?   But now, we have a lot of improvements in the PS3 coming:

-PSN premium services which will add another source of revenue

-Google TV

-Move

The 360's improvements are nowhere near the PS3's improvements this year.

and you know all of the Xbox 360 new features?

ESPN deal?

Hulu deal?

Slim?

Just to name 3 rumors.

And you say Natal won't do anything, but move will? Care to explain why?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

This thread is stupid.

Wait until the official price and game lineup for the Natal (which is due very soon) to judge anything... I don't like it (or the PS Move), but they have good chances at breaking into the casual market with it... that'll not only "save" them, but also open a whole new audience for the console... which results in big sales.

I really don't see what is it that you were thinking about when you were making this thread.

i think microsoft still has some tricks up its sleve. it may stay ahead and it may not. to early ro tell IMO(still getting a 360 soon though)

and although i dont see either PSMove or Natal becoming that big, i think Natal will do better IMO.

I guess, I'm going against your logic, because I'll be buying one when Reach comes out.

i agree , a 100 dolar xbox360 is the only thing that can save it from 3rd place

THE ONLY REASON  the 360 is not 3rd place right now is because  it was released a year and a half before  ,

although is already 3rd in  europe  and japan

We're two weeks prior to one of the most significant E3s  of recent years so why would anyone make epic predictions until such time as the conferrence is wrapped up?

In any case I don't think it really matters at this point. Microsoft has 'won' in that they have significantly improved profitability and will more than double their previous consoles LTD sales. They can't easily be shifted off their perch in the gaming industry now and they will continue to expand their offerings.

Overall its not too far fetched coming out of E3 and the resulting announcements whatever various moves on pricing that they might increase their sales relative to the PS3 so nothing is really set in stone here.

Tease.

People are going to go buy PS3s just because they're adding premium content that you have to pay to access? Am I missing something here?

Yes, it's more about Sony getting more $$$$ which makes it a stronger company, and will be able to do more things with it.

You sound so happy getting nickle and dime'd lol

Face it Sony has seen how much MS is making from live and they want to get a piece of the greedy action

Wait until the holidays and the PS3 outsells the 360  by 1.5 million in HW again.  Those kinds of numbers really help the marketshare and software sold.  This christmas the PS3 can really do some damage.

Even if that occurs, it would take four (4) such years for the PS3 to finally come out ahead.

Ten year plan?

Sigh. At least Gamecube owners accepted their fate early on, Playstation people will be in denile long after the 1st and second place console fans cease to care.

In fairness, Gamecube folks had the entire Nintendo64 generation to get used to "defeat," and even then they took second place.  I'd imagine that if the web was active in the mid-90's as it is now, Nintendo fans would be every bit as     zealous     as certain Sony fans currently are.

Why the hell are all these Microsoft haters in here???  Microsoft is doing just fine slim model, price cuts, natal, great first party and third party games will all help boost the X360.  Oh and for those of you saying Sony will gain an upper hand because of premium services think again. Microsoft already receives tons of money from Xbox Live Gold subscribers and Sony simply wants to get their hands wet as well. They can't suddenly charge for online play because Sony consumers would start crying foul. So they are resorting to adding premium services instead. Microsoft only needs to add services to Gold since that is essentially Microsoft's premium service. Sony is simply trying to play catch up like they have been this entire generation.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.
