Forums - Microsoft Discussion - A price cut is the only thing that can save the 360 from 3rd place

As the title says, a price cut is the only thing that can help at this point.  The ps3 has been gaining a lot of marketshare, and has several enhancements for 2010, a lot of added value and the extra source of revenue with the PSN premium stuff that we'll see soon.

The PS3 is sprinting ahead.

Natal?  I dont see a lot of people buying a $150 add-on, or a $300 console that was supposed to be a cheapo deal in the first place.  Natal is just overpriced, is focused on a market that the 360 really doesn't have; casuals.

The only thing left is a 360-slim and price cut.  For the 360's sake they need it.

Yup that 30K-40K per week the PS3 is outselling the 360 will have the PS3 passing the 360 in no time.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Lol at your narrow mindness.

Some points.

$150 is not official.

$299 is the most expensive SKU. Oh and don't forget that pricecut you mentioned. $199 for an Elite?

Natal is focusing on the market that's most important. Casuals, if you haven't noticed that's why Nintendo is absolutely dominating in sales and profit. Both Sony and Microsoft have now realised they are the key to success and are now trying to make their console attractive to them.

LOL at you thinking that Natal will add up to anything.

Wait until the holidays and the PS3 outsells the 360  by 1.5 million in HW again.  Those kinds of numbers really help the marketshare and software sold.  This christmas the PS3 can really do some damage.

Sprinting ahead would be a gap of 100-200k a week, so better put, the PS3 is sluggishly creeping up. The 360 is still millions ahead, and while it's quite possible for the PS3 to catch up and surpass 360 sales, don't just make assumptions. There is no confirmed price for Natal. There's also an arcade unit for $199.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

That arcade has been $199 for a long time now. Wouldnt you think it would of done some damage by now?

There has been an arcade unit for $199 for a while, hasn't helped much has it?   But now, we have a lot of improvements in the PS3 coming:

-PSN premium services which will add another source of revenue

-Google TV

-Move

The 360's improvements are nowhere near the PS3's improvements this year.

supercat,

There will be a price cut and with that price cut the sales of the 360 would increase.

Natal is going after different customers that currently pass on the 360 and go towards the Wii.  360 will now gain some of those customers (didnt say all, but some).  This is what the purpose of the Natal is.

Right.

So, the 360 is going to sell natal for $149, and full priced  natal games for $59 .   I really thinik that this is going to go places.
