Regenerating health is absolutely despicable. But who said Deus Ex 3 is gonna have that?

One of the producers said that during an interview. They decided to use Regen Health instead of Med Kits because in previous games, they said players had difficulty trying to reach the end of levels with low health and there was no way of recovering the health without backtracking and searching the area for Med Kits. So that's why Eidos decided to overcome that issue by using Regen Health.

lol that's a pathetic excuse. It's almost like claiming that having health packs could never work in a game!

Backtracking, searching bla bla bla... just re-design the game then. If health packs work fine in other games they can make it work in Deus Ex 3 too.

Btw, it surprises me that they've gone into discussing such "minor" design choices publicly. I mean there aren't even gameplay footage or much details at all out for this game yet.

Yeh it's not like Health Packs doesn't work in other games. Maybe they also thought that it would be safer for them to use Regen Health since most FPS these days use Regen Health like COD and since Deus Ex is an FPS as well, they proabably thought it's be best to use it.

I think this was discussed mainly because many people apparently had issues with the Health Packs in previous games and so the interviewer must've asked in place of the fans whether they changed the Health Packs mechanics or not. Other than that, beats me why they would discuss all this without showing us the gameplay we want to see!

Ok so seeing how developers will keep on trying to put in that noob feature, the regenerating health, ad try and pass it off as a way for them to fine tune encounters. Why don't they make enemies also have the regenerating thing? So when you hide to regen, they do so as well? That way they can still use the "it allows us to control encounters" argument without noobing up and dumbing down the game.

SMG2 is much harder than the original Deus Ex, despite the optional Galactic Guide when you're getting owned.

On Topic:

I don't care about the inclusion of regenerating health, as long as the stealth is good. The best way to play Deus Ex was stealth. They should also use the new tech to let you take advantage of verticallity more than Deus Ex did.

Oh and on Invisible War, it was not a bad game at all, just disappointing compared to Deus Ex. It was still better than 90% of the shooters last generation.

Hopefully they'll just incorporate it as an augmentaion (they had a nano aug for regeneration in DX1).

lolol I was 8 or 9 (And I was born in 92 so it came out when I was 7) at the time slimebeast, all I did in my summer holidays was play AOE II back then, I betrayed allies & took kingdoms. It was really really fun.

And at the time its graphics seemed AMAZING to me believe it or not.

I don't mind old games, my top 5 games of this gen include the Dragon Quest 5 & Final Fantasy 4 Remakes on Nintendo DS....old graphics don't matter as long as the story is compelling, characters are likeable & the gameplay is fun.

It actually don't have that many likeable characters (although the villians are the kind that you love to hate :P ), I said that it's more similar to Oblivion, didn't I?

LOL I see what you did there.

I think I'll check it out

@Slimebeast

Age Of Empires really wasn't that complicated back then either, at 9 I could finish TOmb Raider 1 too! I think I could beat FF8 when I was 9.

I understand, cool. But... lol I hope you aren't comparing the complexity of AoE to Tomb Raider, are you?

AoE II was complex?

Yes for a 9 year old.

I disagree.

I think Slimebeast, would be shocked at the sort of games kids can get into at that age. My brother is the same age as you (darth) and his fave game of all time (like mine) is Deus Ex. It really is an amazing game, and if you can get past the graphics (although there is a High Definition Texture Pack mod for certain in game objects) it's highly rewarding.

In some ways the gameplay does remind me of Oblivion, although it's still linear levels instead of open world, but you can approach every level how you want to, as well as having access to secondary quests. The first level is a prime example of this although it does drop you in the deep end a bit which can be a bit off putting to noobs.

Basically Darth, give it a go! I think it's available for cheap on Steam if you have an account.

@ underlined

It had a lot to live up to, yes, but they also made some very bad design choices (the one ammo system is the first one that comes to mind) and restricted themselves by making a console game first. The areas were smaller than in the first game, and the PC version had a high def texture pack out within a year of release.

Will you have the ability to have skull guns?

I honestly can't say which wass harder. Played DE1 last year on hard, and I just finished SMG2, even the secret world. I had no problem getting through both equally easily. Though I have been through DE nearly a dozen times now so that maybe played a role in it, and I have been playing Mario since 3.

Also, Invisible War was indeed a bad game. Games are supposed to get better with time, not worse, hence it was a bad game. Also saying that it was better than 90% of shooters last gen is like saying that someone won in the special olympics. It's relatively a great achievement, realisticaclly it's still bad compared to the actual olympics.

Loved the trailer.

If its even half as good as the original it'll be one of the best games of this generation.

I disagree that being a downgrade makes a game bad. Bioshock is a downgrade from System Shock 2 in many ways, but is generally considered a great game. Invisible War was enjoyable, which is what makes a game good. It wasn't great, and it certainly didn't live up to the original, but it wasn't bad.
