yeah, but on the other hand, direct sequels of nintendo games usually get lower review scores than their predecessors (i think i remember pikmin2's score > pikmin1's by just a single point)

in SMG2's case, the sequel got better review scores all round and from almost all famous gaming site (most of whom gave the game perfect scores), so i think SMG2 has a chance, also as morenoingrato said before, it can take advantage of NSMBWii's current popularoty, also has a bigger userbase than the first Galaxy (though this won't give SMG2 that big of an advantage imo)

I would say SMG2 has fairly good odds espesially since the first week sales of SMG2 for america and japan are around 150K higher than the first week of sales of SMG worldwide.

Pikmin 1 & 2 are great examples on why it will sell less.  While pikmin 2 was rated better. It sold 200k more than half of what the 1st sold.  If I remeber correctly. Pikmin 1 was 1.7 million. While pikmin 2 was 1 million. Also Pikmin 2 beat pikmin 1 by 3 points

^^ but you missed my point, i was trying to say that most direct sequels are rated lower than their predecessors, usually having a negative impact on the sequel's sales. although having a better score doesn't necessarily gurantee better sales, it doesn't hurt either

in this case, SMG2 doesn't just have better scores, but it got PERFECT scores from many respected gaming sites

The "recent" sucess of NSMBW will definately help out the Mario franchise on Wii, SMG2 will definately outsell the original.

yeah thats what I think, NSMBW will probably help it sell better

plus the base is even bigger now

so I think it will be around the same numbers, maybe not outsell it

bcuz like everybody said its a sequel but wont be far from it

As pointed it will depend on how the "lapsed gamers" that acquired a Wii for NSMBW will buy this new mario game
