I would compare it to the black album from Metallica. It's a good album but not a good 'Metallica album'..

Super Mario Bros 2 is a good game, but not a good 'Mario game'.

Why can it not be both.

The game was not originally meant to be part of the Mario universe. But its elements have become part of game's canon.

Although I liked the story and characters, I was never a big fan of Super Mario Bros. 2. The gameplay mechanics just weren't the same, and I just didn't enjoy it as much as Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3.

I love Super Mario Bros. 2.

What I hated though is how Mario had such a crappy jump, but at least Luigi jumped almost like Yoshi, with his feet going all over the place.

Hm, never played the 2nd one. I've heard its not nearly as good as the first and third.



 Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

It has let us a great legacy: Bob-Omb, Shy Guy, Birdo. Those characters would not be in any Mario game without Mario 2.

I love the game.

Bigger fan of SMB1 and SMB3.

Great game and interesting take on Mario.

I actually kinda sorta liked SMB2 more than SMB1 xD I played them both of Super Mario All-Stars so I got to play SMB, SMB2(USA), SMB2(Japan), and SMB3 and for me it was: SMB3, SMB2(USA), SMB1, SMB2(japan)
