Simply the most pointless website redesign i have seen. WTF have the done to this? Mark my words, this will ruin the community on this site..
Good night VGCHartz, you have committed online suicide..

NB: Quality or Hype - that makes for long term gaming enjoyment.
The more I'm navigating the new site, the more I'm beginning to like it. Once you get used to it it's pretty cool. I like the more facebook-esque wall/status updates, although I noticed for some reason most of the posts on my wall have disappeared.. It is a bit bothersome to navigate between the news/reviews/forum sections, but I just open them all in multiple tabs and switch between them.
Edit: Hmm, and I seem to be having trouble getting my post to register on Firefox.. It's like Gamepro.com all over again :/

I don't remember anyone saying that when VGC turned into VGC 2.0
Yes people had some criticism, but nothing on that level I think.

There were a lot of people who threatened to leave (some who did) because they found it hard to read. One of those members recently came back (fkusomut I believe) to make a thread and complain about the color scheme. Most of the complaining rooted on the fact that it was flash based, that it looked like Gamespot and the color scheme was hard to read. I remember there were a lot of initial complaints and it drove the mods crazy. And people obsessively were asking for an option to show the site in a "VGC1.0" mode or whatever they referred to the site before. |
It still seems to me that this redesign was much bigger, and that people are more upset with the "hub" style than they were about less visible changes like the use of flash.
But maybe it's just me...

ok first of all the only thing I didn't like about 2.0 was the fact that at the time I had a 4:3 monitor and I had to scroll to the left all the time in the forums. The new design on the other hand has lots of problems that I have noticed after just a few minutes using it. 1st it suffers from the same thing I hate about the google and youtube changes, white with light grey soft borders, stuff blends together and it's hard to see the difference between quotes and the replies. Combined with the floaty design it makes the site a pain to read. 2nd in long threads like this one the fact that the link to go to the next page of the thread is only at the top of the page makes it a pain to read. Seriously PUT A LINK AT THE BOTTOM when the page first loads you don't want to go to the next page of posts strait away, you do when you reach the bottom so it makes sense to put the link at the bottom or both. 3rd the lack of a quick reply box is annoying bring it back please. 4th light green on white is a no no ether make the green darker or change it. 5th an dark design option for the people that prefer it would be nice. fix those issues and bring back the ability to refresh the list of recent threads without refreshing the page and bring back the list of threads that you have posted in and an indication that you have been quoted in one back on the side when in the forums and I think I will like the site again. ps it keeps cutting off my post lucky I copy and pasted it lol
