not really. i was never that intersted in the first game. i came close to buying it but then turned away. if the first one is really only $10-$15 then maybe ill pick it up to check it out.

According to IGN, who's played the game some, there is new 2D elements to the game, the controls have changed (thankfully jumping is controlled by A instead of waggling), and they said it's just as good as, if not better than, the original. I am stoked.

The jump controls weren't a deal breaker, but they did bother me enough so I wouldn't have bought the second one if that wasn't fixed. Since they were fixed, AND from what I understand save points (my second issue with the game) have been improved a little, yes this is day one.

Especially since now it apparently also has real co-op/multiplayer.

enjoyed 1st few levels novelty wore off quick, should have been a DLC game not a retail release.

also had an awful control setup.
