Father Grigori is at the end of the Ravenholm level, I'd say somewhere around the middle but I can't seem to remember since its been a couple of years since I played it last.
The driving levels (both boat/jet ski and car) are what take the longest but there's a lot less content than in the levels you traverse on foot so its a bit deceptive.
By far the best level in HL2 imo is Nova Prospekt, which is after the Ravenholm level, you should really play it!
Episode 1 is slow paced and focuses more on bonding with Alyx while Episode 2 is epic in every sense of the word, its manic, chaotic and exciting as all hell!

Damn, so another game that I played halfways and then quit for some mysterious reson (like Bioshock, Resi 5, CoD 5, Doom 3).

I absolutley must replay it then. Someday. After all those other games + my growing back log. :/

I too struggled to make it through Bioshock and suffered the same fate with the even less engaging sequel. I loved System Shock 2, but Bioshock just seemed dumbed down, ugly, and slow paced. I say skip it if it didn't grab you the first time. RE5 has it moments, but if you stopped playing you likely didn't think it was great, so skip it too. COD W@W was fun, but forgettable- skip it. Doom 3 was great, for about 4 hours then it started to become a grind. WIthout the graphical wow-factor of playing it back in the day, I'm jsut not sure if there is much meat to it. Oh and skip the expansion, it sucked even back then.

Don't get me wrong I know that many of these titles are well loved, but if you stopped playing them it seems to me you didn't enjoy them then, why go back now?

Haha, you make such good points! Really. About all those 4 games. But somehow it feels wrong to skip. It's like, I want to watch the whole movie, you know?

Realistically I wont finish all those games though, maybe not even one. Since my back log looks like this: :/

My back log. Some of these games I have played a good portion of but not finished them.

Wolfenstein
Bioshock (I was around 50% but lost my save game, is this worth to replay from the start?)
STALKER Clear Sky
Half-Life 2 (same here, save game is lost)
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
STALKER complete (Ive finished STALKER once but have to replay it with this superb mod)
Assassin's Creed II
Fable 2
Resident Evil 5
Dead Space
King Arthur
Medieval: Total War
Risen
Metro 2033
Mount & Blade: Warband

If I had more time and energy I would also finish GTA 4, Far Cry2 (Im maybe halfways) and Tomb Raider Underworld (im probably on the last level) but I doubt I will ever finish them.

I have a bad habit of not finishing games as well, but I played HL2 and Episode 1 straight through no problems since they are fairly short games and the story kind of kept me interested.

I got stuck in Nova Prospekt, I need to finish it.

Wolfenstein Fun but unoriginal and repetitive
Bioshock (I was around 50% but lost my save game, is this worth to replay from the start?)
STALKER Clear Sky Many consider the STALKER titles to be great, I don't agree
Half-Life 2 (same here, save game is lost)
Mass Effect Amazing, must play
Mass Effect 2 Even better than ME1
STALKER complete (Ive finished STALKER once but have to replay it with this superb mod)
Assassin's Creed II Improved on the original in everyway, still not my type of game.
Fable 2 Haven't played it
Resident Evil 5
Dead Space A must for horror fans, take it or leave it for others. I think may have never finished it and got bored right near the end.
King Arthur Haven't played it
Medieval: Total War Really fun
Risen Meh
Metro 2033 Looks great on PC, very fun, but keep multiple saves- I got stuck and had to replay a huge amount. Pissed me off big time
Mount & Blade: Warband Really fun

If you don't mind some more advice I went through your list. I think I'm the exception to the rule, but I quit playing a huge number of games before I make it to the end. Sometimes I even make it almost to the end and lose interest (Dead Space). I'm pretty finicky, and hard to get hooked.

If I were you I would start with the Mass Effects, they are both just phenominal.

So Half Life 2 and Episode 1 have improved graphics. Do they look at good as Episode 2 with HDR lighting and all that good stuff?

Haha, we think alike.

I would definately start with Mass Effect but as you understand I have a hard time with working through this big back log, so I really have to start with the boring games first or else they'll be left and forgotten forever.

Btw, I meant Medieval II: Total War if that makes any difference.

Sad to hear u say "meh" about Risen. :/ I mean I believe you, but that just makes my work ahead feel even harder.

I have this thing where I feel I need to play some games and to finish them (but never on easy difficulty. I mean that would make the task so much easier but it wouldnt fel right).

Funny that you quit Dead Space right before the end lol (like me with Tomb Raider underworld).

I've decided Dead Space is next on my list, followed by Resi 5 or Bioshock (which feels like a re-play, damn!).

good to see, a very nice update. Gonna play through them again now. Hopefully the Counter Strike Source update will go from limited Beta to widespread update soon
