sorry, never will buy a wii.

I dunno, maybe it's because I'm a little biased, but to me I can't fathom how a financially smart gamer could want to own multiple consoles and NOT have a Wii as one of them, which is far different from the other two, and cheaper. Yet people seem to have no problem buying both HD consoles, with near identical libraries, and similar features.

Wii's library is vastly different, so I would think it'd be most financially sound to own one HD console AND the Wii, since you cover the most bases with this combo, while saving the most money. Either that, OR obviously owning all 3 consoles if you can afford it.. But someone opting for the PS360 combo while passing on the Wii has always been baffling to me, since they are so similar and cost the most money, while you're missing out on the most exclusives.

PS3 and 360 have a ton of great games, don't get me wrong, but the vast majority of them are cross platform. I can count the number of each of these console's exclusives worth buying a console for with my one hand.

The fact that a black wii exists now for $200 ? and the 10/10 for SMG 2 do make me want  to buy a wii somewhat, Yes.

But I like the fact that I haven't ever bought one. It was so popular and I didn't give into the hype. I looked at what was offered then, and weighed my choices carefully and love the fact that I never gave in.

But if the new Zelda comes out and it is great, I will almost have to get a wii.
and if Nintendo swallows their pride and finally adds an achievement system, I will shove people down trying to get a wii.

So overall the black wii and Mario have helped, but still not there yet.

@Metallicube: I own both HD systems and I will tell you why. I got the 360 at launch because it was the start to this gen, and omg was it so great to play those launch games in all of their hd glory. It was all so beautiful and xbl was unlike anything i had ever known video games could be!

Then the PS3 launched. This system is my baby, and I needed to have it. Holy christ the PS3 exclusives are so incredible, and the PS3 is one of the most capable bluray/ wireless netflix machines out there... still. This is the best all around experience in games I have ever had.

If I had it to do over again, I probably would have just waited for the PS3 and never purchased the 360. But having both does have its advantages, like the perk of being able to be choosy about multiplat hd games, and ofcourse being able to buy ANY exclusive hd game regardless of the platform.

Well aren't you the rebel :P

I'm not a fan of people branding Wii owners as simply buying it because they "jumped on the bandwagaon." I would have bought one had it only sold 10 million.

Hell, I was one of the 22 million proud GC owners and one of the 10 million DC owners, two of the most underrated consoles IMO.

Also achievements are a cheap cop out to try an add a quick and effortless sense of acomplishment that the game cannot otherwise provide. I'm a much bigger fan of things like unlockables.. Like in RE4 for example. these are achievements that actually reward you and impact the game itself, rather than simply slapping an online gamerscore on there and making that be the acomplishment. It gives cheap incentive to keep the gamer playing when they normally wouldn't had there been no achievements, and also gives the developer sort of a free pass to slack a bit more in their game, since that manufactured sense of accomplishment will always be there through achievements. All in my humble opinion of course :)

Theirs a difference between hardcore and core gamer in my mind.

A hardcore gamers lives for gaming. As such a hardcore gamer is not a hardcore gamer if they do not own all three systems. Because if you do not own all three systems you are closed off to experiances found exclusively on each platform. A hardcore gamer owns a Wii because of the exclusive content , ground breaking controls and the Virtual Console support. But the hardcore gamer will also own a PS3 and a 360 to play Halo or Little Big Planet. A hardcore gamer will get Natal and such. A hardcore gamer loves all things gaming and enjoys a bit of everything.

A core gamer to me is the core demographic. The players that have been purchasing games and consoles for a long time. Example a gamer who has been gaming all their life. That is a core gamer, in other words their is casual and core gamers. If you aren't casual then your core. In this case with the Wii most of the user base is casual and the core demographic while existant isn't as big as that found on other platforms.

So will a core gamer buy a Wii for MarioGalaxy two? Probubly not because that core gamer has already turned down the first one and many other big titles. They have made their choice and a single game isn't likely to change that. However if you ask after E3 if the line-up will change a core gamers mind you might be pleasently suprised!

If i was 10 again yes, but Mario and Nintendo generally just doesn't entertain me as an adult (I'm not saying no adults like Mario, just not me)

the Wii isnt't for core gamers. It's a console for grandpas and people who think they can do exercise while watching television.Sorry, but that's where nintendo aims nowadays.

Uh huh, cause that's exactly what games like Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Star Fox, and others appeal to.

What's with this sudden surge of Nintendo bashing on this site lately? Did Nintendo do something recently to offend everybody that I missed out on?

And here I thought this was one of the few refugees on the net where the Nintendo hate was kept to a minimum..

I haven't noticed to much Wii bashing on this site, unlike many forums the Nintendo page on VGChartz isn't bombarded by Sony fanboys and Microsoft fans. In all this site is fairly civil.

As for the misconception that Nintendo is aiming at the elderly, women gamers and girls. Thats exactly the image that Nintendo is putting out. Were you watching E3 2008/09 Nintendo was aiming at the tween girl market with alot of the DS stuff and at the elderly and fitness junkies with things like WiiFit and WiiFitPlus. For the last few years Nintendo has been exclusively targetting the non-gaming market trying to attract non-gamers.

In their efforts to attract non-gamers Nintendo has turned off many real gamers. Does that mean Nintendo doesn't give real gamers a good game every now and then. No Nintendo does give gamers a few franchise offerings. But Nintendo's main goal is to expand the market to more and more non-gamers, thats just a fact.

PS Star Fox isn't on the Wii.
