Forums - Nintendo - Wii wireless issue

I'm wondering if anyone can help me.  I have a Linksys wireless router at my home.  I can use the wireless connection with laptops without any problem.  However, when I connect to the same network with my Wii, the connection cuts out after 10-15 minutes, and I have to unplug the modem and router in order to reactivate my internet connection.  Even more oddly, my Wii no longer connects to my wireless network at all.

The strange part is that my Wii has no problem connecting to my neighbor's wireless, and it stays connected indefinitely.  Since I don't want to permanently steal their bandwidth though, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or tips on what I might do.  Thanks in advance!

Does your wireless provider have a set number of devices that can access the internet at a time? I have Time Warner Cable and their standard set is 4 items per household. Of course with three laptops, a desktop, a DS, Wii, Xbox 360, and a BluRay player... something had to give.

We called and set it to 12 items, so everything is good now.

Good question: I don't know the answer off the top of my head.  But usually when I'm using the Wii, nothing else is connected to the internet due to my hatred for all things lag.

In the connection settings, is your preferred connection in slot 1? I had terrible trouble using a connection in slot 2 until I swapped them around.

My neighbor's is in slot 1, while my home connection is in 2.  I'll give that a shot.  Thanks!

There is specific information for how to make your router work with best with your Wii. They almost always suggest using channel 1 or 11. If you aren't using one of those channels, I would start by changing that.

I'll give it a go: I know I'm on 11, but hopefully they have something specific for my ancient router.  Thank you!
