I think it'll sell less than the first one actually, I could be wrong. I'll probably be flamed. First time they released a 2nd 3D mario in the same Gen so nothing to base trends on.

There's no real evidence either way. Other than more wii's being sold (which could be the factor that proves me wrong) so I'm going to go against the trend of the thread.

Thats because SMG 1 came out in 2007 when there was much fewer Wiis. SMG2 comes out during a 71 million Wii units period.

 

And SMG2 got improved in every way. Nintendo worked a lot harder on SMG2.

That's possible in Japan, but not US. 

It'll sell much more in US. Mainly because it has a lot more 2D gameplay, which is what most gamers enjoy.

They asked for first week numbers, and I think those are reasonable. Yes there are a lot more Wiis in the market, but the users don't always preorder their games or buy first week, this is also not the holyday season and still the numbers I gave are higher than the initial week of Galaxy 1.

Now if you ask for lifetime or worldwide the numbers will be a lot higher, but I don't think they will be huge in the first week only.

SMG2 is releasing in less than 2 weeks and it has actually less than 500k preorders, it will close its preorders to 600k in the best case. And that doesn't even assure a 1m first week just in the Americas. It'll sell 900-1m first week in the Americas, how in hell can it sell 1.5 times what NSMBW (a much more popoular genre) has sold WW in its first week? While I agree SMG2 willsell better than first one (breaking 10 millions) it'll never sell 3m WW in its first week and will never outsell SMG by 10 millions!

I haven't seen any commercials on TV yet,but, I did see them on the Nintendo channel. That's sure but he's calling it to be a multi million seller first week just in the Americas! It'll be lucky to sell over 5 millions LTD in the Americas, no one can think Galaxy 2 has an opening similar to Call of Duty MW2 when it has neither a million preorders and CoD 6 had over 2 millions of them!
