Forums - Gaming - Developers!!! STOP MAKING GAMES FOR HD CONSOLES

Err ok. Most new games arent worth a purchase anyway so I would rather spend $20 a month to rent them and play them once than spend $130 NZ on one new game. Steam sales make it even harder to justify any new game purchase especially when I can pick up 10 or so good games at the same time for less than what people here pay for one console game at launch.

You're a sucker if you buy first day and the console makers love you for it.

I can't even buy one game from the past two years, let alone one from this month.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

This year is pretty much over for me now. Only a few titles left for me to pick up. and the rest that I get will be bargain bin games.

Things to get this year:

Xenoblade (If it comes out this year)
The Last Story (If it comes out this year)
Final Fantasy XIV
Metal Gear Peacewalker
Valkyria Chronicles 2
KH BBS

That may seem like alot, but it isn't crap compared to what I have dished out so far.

too bad none of the games interest me or ill get them all. ive shopped over 15 times last month on amazon but none on games.

My way of buying games is that I get the ones I absolutely want when they come out. The ones I don't know too well (such as the new IPs) I wait for a price drop or two before getting them (usually the $25-$50 range) depending on "user" reviews. If I have more than 3 unfinished good games, I hold off buying altogether until I've played them to finish.

Some games are only good for single play-throughs (like the grand theft autos) some are good for multiple play-throughs and are worth keeping instead of selling off to Ebay.

The virtue of single console ownership means fewer games to be tempted by / feel compelled to own.

But without those "suckers" we'd all be stuck with Wii quality games. Thank god for those people who support the games I personally love.

I rarely pay full price for a game though. Mass Effect 2 being the only game I paid $60 for. The next will probably be Fallout Vegas.

You're a sucker if you buy first day and the console makers love you for it.

So not only will you not support a single developer by buying a game at full price, you then state you'd rather rent the games, so you won't give game developers any income at all?

I know most people can't afford first day purchases, but at least they give some income when the price drops.

Your call, but you shouldn't whinge when the next devs go out of business. You are, after all, playing their creative works while giving them nothing for it.
